Marlin 39 octagon,moon shaped butt
« on: September 20, 2009, 03:07:32 AM »
I have what I have been told as a very old 39 high grade.I have no clue on these guns, and would love some info.It is a model 39 no prefix no S 4 didgit serial # 15XX has a moon shaped butt, metal plate,Pistol grip Walnut stock with checkering with leaf pattern woven in and out of the checkering.Octagon barrel and was obviously case hardened on the reciever, the feed tube slides over instead of in the tube and does not come out and is spring loaded will try to down load pics. any info would be of great help.I have not found the 39 with this stock design or moon shape butt plate and it is throwing me a curve.

If you can't get info from marlinowners, go to www.marlin-collectors.com. Rick Regnier can look up serial numbers to quite a few models and give you more information from the records he has.

Good Luck!
