7mm-08 Encore...
« on: September 20, 2009, 01:02:32 PM »
Been working with my nephew’s Encore in 7mm-08 caliber.  So far it is doing quite well with the Hornaday 139 SP bullets and IMR-4350 or IMR-4895 powders.  The 4895 has the edge and that is the powder I will stay with…

Has anyone use the Nosler 140 BT with 4895 power?  I started with the Hornaday bullets as they are much less expensive.  I realize that the Nosler bullets may not even like 4895, but I have found in the past that certain weights of bullets like certain powders…

Any help with the Nosler 140’s?  That’s all I am concerned with and using 4895 powder.  I have nearly 70 powders and I really don’t care to experiment as the cost of the Nosler bullets is outrageous!

Thanks…BCB

Just curious; why do you want to use Nosler bullets when their cost is "outrageous?"

Grumalkin,

I agree, but my nephew brought them to my place and I just happened to have some Hornaday to use.  They are much less expensive and I was giving the kid a break by using them first to see which powder might be better than another.  I have used Hornaday forever and they have worked fine...

Guess the Noslers are just prettier!  That's all I can think...
