big800, we don't sell any ammo.  The only cases we sell are .500WE and 327 Federal (which we are out of at the moment).  Is there a particular case you are referring to?

I wish it were priced higher! I have seen unprimed and "2x loaded" brass selling for quite a bit more than new brass. Funny as FAs' own site details their own loading data for previously produced cartridges. They tell you how to make their ammunition. Now i am sure quite a bit of research goes into bullet manufacturing for higher velocity rounds as well as producing shells that brass that has the right metal ratio but still why would one pay a premium for old cartridges or brass?

in my opinion it's a positive reflection of the branding. In the auctions I viewed the boxes clearly displayed 'Freedom Arms'. i am sure the seller was banking on the in-tact box to get his asking price.

A while back some ammo was returned to us by a customer.  He had bought it as new factory ammo and was having problems.  Turns out someone had reloaded it and was selling it as FA new ammo.

Buyer beware.

I would love to get my hands on some original FA .454 brass. Does anyone have any to sell? Preferably new, or shot in FA revolvers.

The ammo I referenced above was on one of the major firearm auction sites a few days ago. I'm on a lunch break right now and can't search for it but I wouldn't think it would be too hard to find...

Simple answer is, it is collectable.  I have a box of the FA brass that I will never use, and a stash of their JFP bullets that I hoard and shoot about ten rounds a year.

I have several hundred FA .454 cases that I've shot the blue blazes out of in the last 15 years or so, Their greatest value to me is what I can do with them, not the appreciation, if any, they may have as collectables. To each his own....

Ken, do you find the quality of the FA brass to be better than for example Winchester or Hornady? I have thousands of Winchester, Hornady and Starline brass, but never tried a single FA case. The Winchester is really good, after thousands of hot reloads I've only had 4 or 5 case splits. Haven't gotten around to use the Starline yet, brass seems to live a very long time in FA revolvers so no need to use my new brass.

Like any ITEM that is no longer produced by a manufacturer it will and has some collector value. The reason for this in my opinion is because it is no longer manufactured, and there are still individuals that had the items before they were discontinued, and feel they should stick with the item because it worked well for them so they are still purchasing them at an inflated cost. Those individuals are also letting friends, and fellow shooters know about how well, the items have worked for them, and they too are purchasing them for an inflated cost.

 Holds true for another item Freedom Arms discontinued back in the late 1980's the Mini Guns (belt buckle guns)

I have some Winchester brass, and some from Hornady also, but neither has been loaded as much as the FA brass, so I really couldn't say if one is superior to the other. I can say that the FA has been excellent. It is also true that with minimum spec. chambers, brass is worked less and will last longer than if fired in oversize chambers.

True, Ken, I tend to agree and am not much of a collector, but I have a bucket of Starline and Hornady 454 brass, a bag of new Starline that I dip into when needed, and have never needed to get into the FA stuff.  The Starline 454 brass is excellent, by the way.

i have most of my orgional 100 rounds of FA brass that i bought with my first 454, 15  or so years ago, i also have starline, winchester and cbc brass, about 1700 total all work fine!

Just bought 250 pieces of never fired FA .454 brass. 130 bucks is not bad, considering the cost of other .454 brass.
