Holster: Bucheimer
« on: September 20, 2009, 06:50:31 PM »
I have a Bucheimer BAL-9 black leather revolver holster and I'm trying to find out what revolvers this was made for. Its appears to be made for a like a 10 inch and it has the leg strap. Great piece of leather but my Ruger SB 44mag will not fit in it. I've tried google but can't come up with anything since this company went out of business back in the 70's. Any clue?

If you're SB won't fit by a little, it could be made for a Colt SAA.  But even then, you should be able to force the SB into it.  If it's that close, you could soak it in the kitchen sink (add just a couple drops of dish soap) and stretch it.  Put the SB in a plastic bag and work it into the holster and leave it until it gets mostly dry.  If it fits at the top but won't take the barrel/ejector housing, it's likely made for a double action.  I have made those fit also with the above method.  If still too small all over, likely it was made for a 9 1/2" Single Six or Colt scout/New Frontier .22.  44 Man.

Appreciate the good info. I will give that soaking & streching method a try. You are correct, I can't get the wheel to fit all the way in. I can get the front end of the wheel in but it just won't drop all the way down past the start.

I really like the holster and its in excellant condition so I'm going to give it a shot...

Thanks

So I did give the soaking & stretching a try and although it did open it up, it was not enough. Even with the holster wet, I could not drop the SB in deep enough. So I used a an object of similar diameter and literally hammered in down. It work some but just not enough. This is some really hard leather. I wish there was a way for me to use this for SBH.

Just a thought, it may have been made for one of the old 9.5" Ruger Single Sixes.
