what's it worth

recently went down to my local sporting goods/bait and tackle shop. They have a handi rifle 243/50 cal muzzle loader combo gun for sale on the used gun rack. Has the standard wood stock bluing is in good shape on both barrels. Wha should this gun go for? They are "asking" $339. The muzzle loader barrel is of no interest for me except for trading for another barrel.

Is it blued, if so, seems kinda high.
A blued huntsman or side kick could be had for 150-175 new.
a blued 243 can be had for 199 new.
a used blued huntsman barrel will fetch 75-90
using fuzzy math I say it is worth about 200-250 if good used condition.

You'll be lucky to find a new Handi for $199!! ::) They normally sell for $225-$275. Bud's sold the combo, which is no longer made, for $287, he currently sells new 243s for about $250 shipped.

also, the muzzleloader barrel has a tasco 4x shotgun scope on it. Not a high end scope, but glass nonetheless. There is no scope on the 243 barrel. Was thinking of offering the guy $250 and going from there.

Why not go with Bud's for the same price and get your 243 new with warrinty?

I really don't care for the 243, but it is a start and I figure that I can trade the muzz barrel for something better, hopefully 25-06.
