Taurus 63

Gander Mtn had one for $200.  IT was a Taurus 63 in real good shape.  Loads through the stock like the Browning 22 auto.  Looks nice but don't know anything about one, never heard of it or seen one before.  Anybody know about them?

The Taurus Model 63 is a copy of the original Winchester 63... Probably the best 22 automatic ever built in America.

Ive only seen one real life Taurus model 63 in the flesh, a co-worker bought one back in 06, from what I saw first hand was a very well machined steel .22 blue'd model with a very attractively figured wood stock, just like the old winchesters I'd seen round
I dident get to shoot it but heard he had fun breaking it in as a all steel machined piece like that took a few boxes to finally get it limberd up some, the last I heard was that was one the best investments hed made in awhile.
The only plastic on that .22 was the buttplate

Anyone have a traders book with the value of one in 80-90% condition.

Oh yeah!
I love my 63! It has a ten-round mag in the butt-stock, the action is take-down so the barrel can be cleaned from the breech, and it is just the thing for off-hand plinking at ranges from 50-100 yards. Yes, it is that good.
The integral safety-lock is unobtrusive and doesn't ruin the looks. The operating rod sticking out of the fore-end takes a little getting used to, but Browning patented the bolt handle, so there you go.
Yup, the Taurus 63 is a great .22 rifle. You can't trick it out like a Ruger, but then, it's perfect already.

Is one in decent condition worth $230 plus tax.

Howdy,
Mine was $250 five years ago. NEW. That sounds a little steep for a used gun w/o original owner warrantee.
