Anyone here rechamber thier .243 to 6mm-06? What kind of results did you get? Sounds like a great p-dog to deer round.

I think you would have to go 6mm06 AI to clean up the chamber.

Yup, -.06 won't work, have to go Improved to remove all of the .243 chamber, I've got a 6mmRemAI that was a 243 Ultra, shoots real good, 87gr Vmax at 3300fps.

I enjoy long range shooting and big guns.

6mm-06 Ackley would be good for prairie dogs for about 150 rounds if you shot very fast.

Why not do a 6mm-.284, it will clean up just fine and shoot just as well as the 6mm-06. I have one on a Mauser, and a 6.5mm-.284 on another Mauser. I have thought about doing one on an Ultra if I ever dig out of the hole.

6mm-284 sounds interesting. Was thinking about the 06 due to fact that I already have about a hundred 270 and 25-06 pieces of brass.

I would go with the 6mm-06 just because you have the brass. There won't be a wit of difference between a 6mm-06 and a 6mm-284 performance wise
. Uusing the 6mm-284 would be sound if you were using a short action but in your case it isn't.Your Handi will not know the difference.
