Pre 1964 or not

Friends, I have a Mod. 70 300 Win Mag bolt with a 24" bbl. Ser# 784xxx. Doe's anybody  have an idea when it was made?

Model 70 rifles with serial numbers below 700,000 are the pre-'64 variety.
SN 784xxx is most likely a 1965 rifle.

Winchester dates of manufacture 1849-1984
Your gun was built in 1965,
Starting serial # that year was 740,600 and a total of 40,600 were manufactured that year ending with serial # 809,177.

Thanks for the info guys. Thinking of selling the rifle and trying to find out what it's worth.It's in excellant cond. and scoped. Any ideas?

Depending on condition I would say between $400.00 & $600.00.
I got my XTR model 70 with the black forearm tip a couple of years ago for $325.00 but Winchester have gone up some since then.
Some more than others.
Some would give the $400.00 just for the action if in good shape.

Maybe but considering it is an early post '64 rifle I think a whole lot more wouldn't take it on a bet than would buy it for the action. Those early push feed guns were hated by many for a long time before they started to be accepted once again.

The man hit the nail on the head I've seen some early push feeds go for cheap or grace the rack in many a gun or pawn shop till they grew roots

by the way I bought on in the early 90 with a beat up stock for $90 in a pawn shop the guy said he had it for years and made 20 on the deal I asked why he didn't lower the price sooner he said he did but I was the first serious taker I shot it for a year and sold it.
