Are these snakes edible, have eaten rattlesnake, crawdads and iguanas, have never heard of anyone chowing down on these. Even Bear G. and Les Stroud have never mentioned these 2, other than being dangerous.

Hi
Cottonmouths are aggressive and nasty. Better leave them alone.
I don't know if copperheads are aggressive but they are poisonous too.
I have had cottonmouths actually come directly after me which a little rat shot took care of. I would leave them alone.

they are Venomous not poisonous. Snake venom itself is supposedly digestible protein=provided you don;t have ulcers or sores in your mouth. Wouldn't care to test that one out myself. Meat is meat though.

Yes i know how bad they are. Dad grew in Louisianna. Spent fair amount time by the bayou's. Just curious cuz you never hear about them getting eaten. Every other critter seems someone has favorite recipe for them. 3leg

Eating a cotton mouth would be rough they stink as bad as any skunk and it takes awhile to get the smell off your hands.
You'd be better off killing it and using it for opossum bait.

both snakes are kind of musky to handle, however everybody eats rattlesanke. if the snake dont bite itself while yur killing it i dont see a prob. id choose the copperhead if i had to eat one.id have to be pretty hard up tho, like all the squirrels have dissapeared?

Cotton mouth tastes about like it smells! Nasty. If you're starvin' I guess anything would do. Personally I'd rather try buzzard.
