Short barreled New Vaquero
« on: September 24, 2009, 09:56:11 AM »
This past monday, I saw a right nice looking Ruger in a show case at my local shop. It's nickle plated with white grip panels and is chambered in 357. The barrel couldn't have been much more than 3.5''. Any of ya'll had your hands on one of these? It wasn't priced too bad either. I think they had it at $459.

I forgot to add that the hammer spur is different from those on BHs or the regular Vaquero. It's almost as wide as the one thats on a SBH.

Might be one of the new Montados.  Ruger also produced the Vaquero in a Sherriff's model, not sure if they offered stainless on that one, and also a bird's head grip model, but with a regular hammer.  The finish isn't nickle...it's a high polish stainless.

The hammer is pretty much designed for shooting one handed from the back of a horse. It is a must have for mounted CAS shooting.  The barrel is 3 3/4."

I'm thinking Montado as well but with these being so very easy to swap parts around and create Franken-Rugers there's almost endless possabilities what ppl can come up with and what others see as 'factory".   If is is indeed factory, it's polished stainless not nickle.
