He is starting this smoke and mirrors with the Irainians over the so called NEW SECRET NUKE FACILITY to divert everyone from the Heath Care Crap hoping that while your frozen in fear of another War they will slip it thru.

He will never do a damn thing of any effect to Iran other than sanctions. However, he rattling that saber in a feable attemp to rally the Nation behind him and to repair his image as being a wimp.

The stuff with the missles in Poland was a stupid misguided attempt to get the Russians to stop the export of them to Iran. Also, he wants Russia to stand down if Israel blows the Iranians to Hell. Man what a idiot he is so weak and the world knows it. He is constantly sucking up to all the Enimies of our Nation. They are indeed laughing at him as they have come to see that he has no spine. Just look at Afganistan now that the military says that if you want this war won give us more troops and that idiot is not going to do it. That is if the Generals threaten to resign over this he just might do it. If not we need to withdraw as fast as our jets can haul our soldiers out. Then you better be ready for they are going to start killing us here. Just klook at what has been uncovered in the last few days. Mark my words they are going to slip by with one and kill a lot of people agin on our soil. All because we will not seal our borders and the idiots dismantleing of the CIA as well as the far lefts dreamy ridiculous stance on terror.

One term for him and Democrats out for 25 years if and when they hit us again. Mark my words they are going to get us real hard and it may happen severl times before long because of the stupid immature wimps in the White House and Congress.

I agree 100%. I was watching the liar himself flanked by the British and French Prime Ministeres this morning at the G8 give his propaganda speech on Iran. It is all a smoke screen to make him look tuff and make the general masses of American stupidity feel helpless. He clearly feels this will garner him support for whatever other false and or liar programs that Marxist has up his sleeve.

Just the fact he has waited more than a day to make a call on this while our troops are fighting really urks me. I thought I had heard something about one of the generals saying to either beef up the troops or change stradegy there. I agree with the latter. 40K more troops won't do what they are trying.
I say pull out most all the troops, turn it into a merc war if you want to just chanse bad guys and kill them, and do it across borders as well. They can hire people in that place to do a lot of the dirty work, maybe have some special forces there, but forget about changing the government, there isn't one.

Either way...what is taking this president so long to decide these things when we have people over there? We are stuck with a rookie that worries more about the polls than anything else. MacCain would not have been one bit better as president over anything domestic...but he sure would probably pay attention to a war and solders fighting a whole lot more and at least make a call after a general tells you your going to lose.

Botoom line is though, Obama best listen to the general he put in charge, make a call, and get on the stick quick. I get the feeling he doesn't care too much about our solders in time of war. He's the man in charge now to make the call on what to do next.

I am very interested to know what, exactly, the military people asking for the extra troops actually mean by "winning" in afghanistan. I have no idea of what our continued engagement there could possibly accomplish for the US.

It is up to the president as the commander in chiefd to set the policy and the objectives of the military. The military is ythen rquired to carry out his orders that means fight and kill anyone at anytime regardless of what they think about it. So the present general has said that to carry out the orders that he has been given GIVE ME MORE TROOPS. Obama can change the mission at anytime but to win, that is carry out the present orders, he needs to send more troops.

The real problem now is that if Obama withdraws and changes the mission the Afganistani and Terrorist can claim a defeat of the Americans and start chanting how Allah is on their side and how they have never been defeated. They also will have one hell of a recruiting poster showing the Mujahadine defeating the Great Bear ( Russia) and the Great Satan (America). They will have raghead crazies marching into the mountains and volunteeering to die for Allah by the 100's of thousands. These stupid childish and imature misteps by Obama will cost us many many live both there and regretably here.

Obama is just in way above his head and has not a clue about how to conduct war. His rattling off during the campain about how we need out right now in Iraq and must shift our focus to Afganistan that was were the war against terror should be. NOW HE IS GOING TO EAT THOSE WORDS TENFOLD. He can cut and run and LOSE FACE AROUND THE WORLD as well as give the terrorist one hell of a propaganda victory. OR STAND AND FIGHT AND LOSE MANY MANY MORE AMERICAN SOLDIERS! What a chocie.. huh?

If he had kept his big flappin lips closed he could have withdrawn and done a more long range surgical type killing of groups of terrorist. Not now he will stay and he will finaly leave in disgrace and shame.

So now no matter what he does the troops pay the price and will now carry the stigma of having lost when they did all and more of what was asked and if they were led by warriors on the political side could leave victors.
This will be another Nam and for that Obama and the Democrats should pay and pay dearly. They have learned nothing LEAVE WAR TO WARRIORS POLOTICIANS STAY OUT OF BUSINESS YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND!

MAN THIS MAKES ME SICK TO MY STOMACH My grandson is in Afganistan with the Marines in a Helicopter Unit and probably get his ass shot off because of this gutless idiot!

The administration recently annouced they are reviewing the strategy over the next 5 weeks in a series of meetings. In other words, the strategy is not working and the thought of sending more troops into the Afgan conflict when George Soros & Code Pink are yelling in your left ear aint easy.

We rather effectively won both in Iraq and Afganistan with our initial actions. The mistake made was to not get the hell out after we won. Those are places you just cannot continue to occupy you must accompish the goal you set then get the hell out. If you need to go back so be it but clearly define a mission goal, accomplish it then get out.

We are NOT gonna win their hearts and minds or change a damn thing there with our presence other than getting American soldiers killed.

We stopped the training camps the first time and should have left then. If more camps pop up bomb them out of existence and continue to bomb them as long as it takes but boots on the ground is a no win situation in any of the arab countries.

seems so clear to me you do not fight as a counterinsergincy operation. You stand back let them get in training camps and then obliterate them. Maybe some surgical insertions to take out large groups. Christ almighty anyone who knows anything tknows your will not whip anyone that has the will and weapons and fights as a n insurgent hit and run tactics. You just slowly bleed out.

Our military knows this why in the hell they do not stand up and be counted and tell Obama that his mission is wrong. I agre with Gretbeard we are never and i repeat never gonna win their hearts or minds they do know want DEMOCRACXY they DO NOT WANT SO CALLED FREEDOM and any thing to do with our way of life. The quicker we stop trying to IMPROVE THEM the better.

We should only appear to kill the enemy and for no other reason. NO WATER WELLS NO BIBLE CLASSES NO UNCHAINING OF THE LADIES TO DO AS AMERICAN LADIES DO.

IT IS NOT OUR BUSINESS TO MEDDLE WITH THE WAY THEY LIVE. They have lived like that for centuries and we will not change that.

GB, you are so right on. I have and will go one further and that is that troops on the ground=targets for the bad guys. That offends some people, but so be it. If a war is worth fighting, then it is worth fighting with the most efficient means we have. And yes, I would go so far as to not rule out nukes.

Plus one here...war is war, period. If solders boots touch the ground, the ground should be charred and turned to glass already, and the resources of all that country has should be ours for the taking. That is what war is about. Anyone not willing to do what it takes should not send our people there at all.

GB summarized it nicely. I would also add that the continued US troop presence there is pushing insurgents into Pakistan. Whereas it was unheard of to have suicide bombings in Pakistani cities only a few years ago, they are not occurring at an increasing rate. The migration of insurgents to Pakistan can lead to war there.

We should remain in Afghanistan to gather intelligence and perform surveillance. These are the activities that gave US the greatest paybacks in terms of killing and capturing Al Quaeda and similar enemies. The troop presence has had little effect in our behalf.

The current situaiton is that there is no national goal for remaining in Afghanistan. And the generals there have a mission that they believe requires more troops. My opiniion is that we should re-define the mission.

We are wasting our time in Iraq & Afghanistan. The mission was over years ago and in my opinion should have never turned into what it did. This continued effort to root out all evil there will yield us nothing other than more dead sons, daughters, wasted tax dollars and continued and growing hatred for America.

We are sowing our own seeds for the next war with possibly Iran or in response to the next terror attack. Our involvement in the middle east gives ammo to these rouge dictators like the one in Iran. We get nothing from these countries other than oil. We can buy oil from them and that’s it. If we leave them alone, they will have to slaughter each other. It's in their genetic makeup after decades and decades of brutal rule by dictators who need enemies for their people to focus on while the dictators rob them blind. We have created the perfect enemy for them, the invading infidels…

If anyone thinks that these terror groups are planning and attacking us because they hate freedom and our wealth, you’re crazy. They hate us because we keep invading their countries and providing the tools to Israel to launch attacks. None of us would like it if some country decided to land on our shores. We would develop a hatred for them and their people and rightfully so.

Why do we care about these places.....The hell with them. We have our own problems here on our shores. A conflict with Iran is imminent and it will yield us nothing but more of the same results and further plunge this country into financial ruin.

I'm for staying in Afghanistan. Full court press until Bin Laden is killed at a minimum.
I never believed in going to Iraq but once commenced believe we are committed to a withdrawl that doen't leave the country in shambles.
Maybe we should take one of those countries and give it to the small group of whining, disenfranchised, secession fantasizing, uber conservatives in the US to show the rest of us how it should be done.

Our son made it back from Iraq in one piece...looks like he slated to go to Afghanistan if we are still there when the times comes up. So I don't want us to be there.

Far as finding Bin Laden.. whoopti doo...like that will solve something. Won't make me feel any better one way or the other.
If that's all we want to do, hire some mercs from there with good pay, and have some special forces back them up, bring all the regular troops home if all we have to do is find one guy. Most of the regular tropps are not looking for him one bit.
Don't make any sense at all to stay in a place where you won't/can't win, where nobody has ever won, and where there isn't anything to win.
Good men and women are dying for nothing, and have been a long time.
