Tim:

How many chambers can be done with the 357 Maxi reamer before you have to send it back for sharpening, if that is what they do?

Also, Pacific Tool and Gauge talk about additional choices of carbide and M-42 metals to make their reamers from for gunsmiths. I know carbide is mentioned in dies as being more durable, is M-42 another step up in durability?

Can't find much about comparing all the materials options.

I dunno, it's still going strong after almost 40 rechambers so far. From previous discussions on the topic, they last a long time when properly lubricated.

Got the reamer in today, 7-27-10, and had a 30 minute or so window before my wife got home and we went to eat.  Pushed out the extractor pin and extractor, oiled up the chamber and made 5 or 6 turns with the reamer and it was done.  Pushed an extra long 180 gr. bullet just into a max case and bumped it home with a plastic hammer.  It was not yet to the first cannelure.  I'm done!  Total time start to finish, 22 min. ;D

Thanks Quick, the reamer will be in the mail tomorrow or the next day at the latest!

hey Quick: let the people know that if they catch and strain the cutting oil (presuming that it is thread cutting oil) that it can be used for case forming lubricant also ;D God Bless to all.

You already did!!  ;D Sounds thrifty, but I prefer to lube with real case lubes like Hornady One Shot or Imperial, I like lubes that don't require any additional steps to clean them since my cases are already clean when I resize, but that's for discussion in another forum.  ;)

The last thing I did before I took out the extractor so I could use the reamer was to take a picture. I wanted to be able to put it back together the way it came apart ! The pic was helpful to me, might be for somebody else too.

just found this forum(I'm getting old, grey ,slow, OK?)I realize this is a year old but was wondering if the 357 max. reamer rental worked out and was still available.I read the whole forum and sounds like the perfect rifle for Arkansas mountain hunting and I love building different guns,my current projects are a double rifle in 45-70, almost done,405 grains at 1700 fps, 3 inches at 100 yds so far, also working on a trapdoor with Shilen barrel for 300 grainers around 1800 fps,not near done, just fun guns.anyway, this 357 max. looks great to me. thanks guys,  oldmanrallee

I have a reamer as well if someone wants to check the specs on it and put it on the rental list for this cause. It is 357 Max cut for a barrel gun (not the forcing cone type).
