Blackpowder loads for encore in Colorado

I just bought a Encore Pro hunter with the 209x50cal barrel and was wondering what kind of loads people were using. I live in Colorado and we can't use pellets or sabots during our blackpowder season. I have in the past used 777 powder with powerbelt bulllets.

My encore shot 348 Powerbelts with 100 grains pyrodex select in front of winchester 209s well.

I just got back from taking a 5x5 raghorn bull in CO with my Encore 50 cal.  I used the 338 gr platnium powerbelt in front of 100 gr loose trip 7.  The slug went through both shoulders and was just under the skin on the off side.   The bullet flattend out like a washer but it did the job as the elk only took about three steps.  I prefer the 385 gr Hornady hollow base for elk, but it is not as accurate as the powerbelt in my Encore. The bull was about 110 yards and walking so I was glad I had loaded it up the the powerbelt.   I previously took a cow at 75 yds with the power belt and it was a complete pass thru just behind the front legs.  She was down when the smoke cleared and I think dropped on the spot.  For 20 years I had used the Hornady Great Plains in my Hawken with good success but now I am beginning to have some confidence in the Encore and power belts.

I use a 405 grain Powerbelt HP and 90 grains of BH209. Very accurate, powerfull, and consistent in my ProHunter. The long no-tools breech plug is a little fussy with weak primers and BH209. Federal 209A primers resolved my issues and I'm very pleased with this combination.

I second the vote for 405 grain powerbelts (hollowpoint).  I put mine over 115 grains of Triple 7 and have good success.  Shots have been between 65 and 100 yards.
