Omega or Optima Elite.....

I have narrowed my ML search down to two.

I have never owned/fired either of these and would like your opinions (good or bad) on both.

The Optima is a good rifle. My brother in law has one and he loves it. Make sure it has a Bergara barrel on it. They are a real good barrel. Much better than the older model CVA'S.

I have an Omega Z5 and it is a tack driver. Holds a 1 1/2" group at 100 yards and a 2 1/2" group at 200 yards.

I don't think you would go wrong with either one.

Optima Elite.   If you're not stuck to hard on those two rifles, i highly suggest you take a look at the CVA Accura!  I finished shooting 200 yards with my Accura today and walked away with a 1 & 1/2" 3 shot group. They are an excellent shooting rifle, beautiful trigger, comfortable stock ( i use the thumbhole) great recoil pad and come with the Bergara barrel.

I second Bigblocks suggestion for the Accura. I have an Omega and an Optime Elite. The Elite is more reliable (for accuracy) than my Omega and will shoot conicals which many of the Omegas will not. The Omega is also a lot more picky as to what it can and will shoot. The CVA will shoot almost anything you can stuff down it. The Omega is resistant to stuffing anything down it (not sure why T/C barrels are so tight).

I love my Omega. Shoots great groups and is easy to cleanup. The only complaint is the tightness of the barrel. The only one which fits down the barrel are the Powerbelts. I've been shooting 348 grain and after hitting the deer they go down within 50 yards.

Now with the increased supply you can hand select bullets and sabots and assemble something that should work in the Omega. It just seems to me that a brand name relatively expensive rifle should shoot bullet/sabot combinations that can be bought over the counter not requiring all the selective work that other less expensive rifles don't require.

Well, I decided on the Optima Elite.
The only thing that kept me from the Omega was the option to change barrels.
If the Optima doesn't suit, I'll have the Omega on the way!
