Ruger Vaquero trigger pivot pin

Have a nice used pair of Stainless Steel Old model Vaqueros and did a break down on them to do some cleaning from blackpowder loads for the first time in a year and file a bit on the pawls to make the free spin cylinder. Everything went back together OK, but the trigger pivot pin seems to walk out of the frame when dry firing and can push the pin back with finger pressure. My question is according to Ruger's schematic, it looks like the pivot pin on the passenger's side with the recessed part for an unknown part to lock the pin in place like the hammer pivot pin and longer screw. Maybe the loading gate spring is suppose to bite into to the trigger pivot pin recess? Does this make any sense? think the pivot pin is part no. 03400 on  Ruger's web site below

Yes, the loading gate spring lays against the trigger pivot so if it's walking out, you have the pin in the wrong direction.

I do believe I have done that more than once myself.  It is much easier to get the trigger pin back in when you do it backwards!  Glad you asked and glad we at Graybeard's could help you.  44 Man
