Update on my 1860 Piettas
« on: October 08, 2003, 01:09:09 AM »
Well, I now have my 2 new Ubertis in my hands...
It seems like they sent me Ubertis instead of Piettas..( for the price of Piettas)
I ain't complaining because my gunsmith looked them over and said they are timed good and everything seems to be excellent.
They sure seem nice to me, the actions are smooth and real nice wood and overall finish.
So, now I have to find time to go smoke em.
Thanks for all the advise.

1 thing ya might want to consider-  b4 you shoot them- take the cylinders out and try some caps on the nipples for size.  Will wager that out of the 12 there will be at least 3-4 that will be too small.  A #10 CCI cap will fall off.  So I would suggest looking into getting some Treso brand nipples.  Worked for me.

Been wantin one for a while, now....just bought a Uberti shoulder stock for it. They quit makin em so I thought I ought to snap one up before they're all gone. Based on your post, I think I'll give the Pietta brand a try. I'll weigh in as soon as I get a chance to play around with it a bit. Thanx.jd45.

P.S. .....I might just try a .44 chambered 1851 Navy ,too!

I have a 1860 army with the shoulder stock and it is sweet.  I also have a 44 navy that I made from a kit.  I made lots of mistakes and it  isn't an overly accurate gun, but I wouldn't trade it for the world.  I didn't know sweet until I bought my Navy in .36.   It is one sweet shooter.
