1894CSS in .357
« on: September 28, 2009, 11:03:00 AM »
I was shopping for a 1894C .357. I've looked around alot, today I came across a brand new 1894CSS $690 out the door. This is not listed on the Marlin site anymore in .357. When was the last time this was offered and do you think the price was right?

Oh Yea I bought it

Thanks

Hope you'll pardon my ignorance but what is the second "S" for?

I just paid $325 $425 (seems my typing skills are about as bad as my proof reading ability, sorry about that) for an "as new-no box"  1894cs and thought I'd paid more than I should have but I wanted another .357 rifle. This one isn't really cowboy at all and that's fine with me, I don't cowboy anymore, it has a checkered foerarm and grip and a recoil pad??

Things are getting out of hand price wise since our new president.  He really is the boon that the firearms industry needed.

Anyway, I hope you'r pleased with your new rifle.  My previous experience with them is that they shoot exceptionally well.

SS I believe stands for stainless steel. It is stainless steel with checkered walnut stock. The blue ones in any caliber in 1894 are around $560.00 new.

It was a special run by Marlin to test the water at the urging of a large group over at Marlin Owners. If it had come out 6mo sooner I would have jumped but my finances have stopped me.

EDITED TO ADD:
I do not believe it ever went in the catalog/website and IIRC that was the going price (MSRP)for this run. If it goes into full production mode it may come down. Kinda like CP's were only made for two years and they still get premium prices.
Yes, I know it's cocked, It's got bullets too.
