Finally Done-Time To Get Ready
« on: September 29, 2009, 05:04:59 AM »
Finnishd doing my last convention on Sunday, glad to be done for the year.
While the conventions are great, the older you get ,the tougher the driving--hauling and booth set up gets.I enjoy setting up my products at these shows, but absolutely hate, all the loading and unloading.Though I must admit, handling all those supplies in and out of a van and onto the booth--does keep the weight off.
Now I need to get my own traps ready for the coming season. But before that happens,I must put away and arrange --totes and totes of merchendise.
For once,I plan on getting my lure shed ,garage and basement all squared away. Not only does it look better, it makes it a lot easier when filling an order.
As I got home sunday afternoon ,the big winds and rain hit.I dodged falling branches and flying objects for 3 hours, while unloading the van.And of course the weather turned a lot colder.I want a few warm days to get my dipping done, and it sure makes it nicer if we see 70 degrees.
Winter will be here way to soon.

I'm glad your able to get your stuff squared away, it would seem to make live easier. It seems when I try to get organized all I do is move things around. I'm getting better at throwing stuff, which is hard for me to do. Seems I throw some odd item I've been keeping for years then the next day find a use for it. My life is a constant shuffle...

How is your transportation hunt going?

Mark, slower sales--has pretty much shut my search for a vehicle. First time in 6 years I will be home for duck opener, and here I sit without a truck--oh well maybe next year.

You need to find you one of them 3 wheeled bikes and go back to the days of your youth. It sucks you don't have at least a beater to get around with.
Some years back my brother in-law and I borrowed his sisters car to make a run for trapping supplys. She wasn't very happy with us after I spilled some of Asa fox supper all call on the floor. I just had to get a whiff on the way home. A year later I bought that car from her insurance company for 75.00 after she drove it into a parked car. With some hammering and pounding and pulling with a chain I had a work / trapping car. It was't pretty but it got me around and I think I drove it for at least 2 years before selling it at a profit. I got a picture of that car with a days catch of fox on the hood. If I can find that picture I'll try to post it.
So anyway keep you eye's peeled you might fall into some kind of a deal.

Yeppers Tom, Mac has right idea.... of course the KLUNKER program took alot of the  cheap  vehicles off market only making it harder for  people that used these

I always like to keep an older truck or SUV for the trapline so I don't have to worry about scratches, dents, lure odors and transporting skunked up traps back home. They have to be mechanically sound though as up in this country one doesn't want it to quit 40 miles into the wilderness. I have had many a long walk out of the wilderness after a vehicle quit or got stuck in the mud or snow before the days of cell phones to call for help. Asa

I just keep one of the track phones with me for emergency Tom which costs only $20.00 every three months for air time and minutes. I seldom use it for anything else and don't keep it turned on so anyone would be able to call me. Asa
