Well, your list looks a little short to me.  Maybe you could work on it a little longer then get back to us.  ;)

And your elk tag. I put half of my ammo in my pack, and the other half in my gun case (or a couple speedloaders if its a muzzleloader hunt) that way if you forget you pack in camp or at home, you still can hunt that day. Don't forget a gutting knife, and extra socks.

So far the moleskin is missing. I've packed :
Two changes clothes
Three changes long underwear
rain suit
Polar fleece jacket and pants
Scent lok suit ( is this really necessary on a rifle hunt?)
2 pair gloves
Orange hat and vest
400 gram thins goretex boots and 5 pr med wt wool socks
hygene and meds/ first aid kit
in field plan on carrying : fire means, emergency blanket, compass, whistle, the first aid kit, tags, GPS, Surefire light, led light, and two sets battery for each, cow call (beef is honestly better), binoculars, range finder, 10 rds ammo, rifle, lens pen, 2 skinning knives, Italian chef and full service wait staff.
Above will be in a Camelbak pack w/100oz. bladder.

Seems like a ton of crap but this is my first Rocky Mt hunt, and flat landers and hills just don't mix easy. I like to see a horizon, hills just ain't natural to me.

Any advice would be appreciated, I'm still a bit apprehensive about this. I'll be hunting with a well seasoned group and really don't need to worry... I think!

I suppose the cell is a given for me. I'll be in the Craig, Co. area at roughly 8000' staying on the mt. Doc gave me a scrip for altitude sickness, said it couldn't be predicted, so I spose I'll be taking it as well.

I've got another ten rds in my clothing bag. Pistols consist of 40 S&W SIG's so they'll be home this trip. Suppose if nobody finds my lost carcass there are worse places to spend eternity. I have considered bringing along a 2nd rifle but the pile keeps growing, and there needs to be an end to the madness.

In stead of a second rifle just bring a second scope then. If there is a problem it will probably be with the scope. Dale

NO!
three years ago I went with a friend of mine and we were sitting about 50 yards apart, I know cause I ranged him, and I hear "No I love you more Pooh bear"  He was on the phone with his 3 year old daughter cause he had a signal.
I ranged him cause I figured I could shoot the antenae off that stupid thing!

The only things I can think to add to your pack.
Toilet paper in a Zip loc with the butt wipe things.  They sell $1 packs at Target.
I carry rubber gloves, the big yellow ones that go 1/2 way up your arms like the wife wears when washing dishes.  Everyone laughs at me when I put them in the pack, but line up when they have an animal down to get a pair.
There are 3 packs in the dollar store and they come in sizes.  Some are yellow some are blue or green.  But all keep blood off you and make cleaning up a breeze.
I would bring more then 10 rounds of ammo.
I also have a cigar in a tube and some matches and tinder.  Stick to matches or a Zippo at 8K feet the tourch lighters do not work.  A Fuel air mix thing.
And I keep some twine, a roll of electrical tape, and 50' of 3/8"rope in my pack.
also a pack of handwipes.  Same $1 at Target.  You can use the butt wipes to clean up after dressing out the animal, but you smell like a diaper.  And what ever you do.
DO not use the hand wipes as butt wipes!  WOW that alchol stings.
Aslo a chap stick.
And I bring a second rifle.  just in case.  Especally when horse back hunting.
Hope you have a great time.
Oh yea bring a folding cheap fuel tab stove and some canned food and you can have a hot lunch.  I like the chunky soups, other guys bring Chef Boyardee but both are good on a cold day and beat a 1/2 frozen swamish.
Good luck.

A saw if your going to cut it up comes in handy. sharpening stone.
I also use felt liners in my boots when its cold. In the mountains it can get very cold fast. I also use a down parka, light weight and warm.
If its not too cold a down vest. Sounds like your going to have a real good time.

GPS and Duck Tape can save your life! Couple that with a cell phone and if it can get out in an emergency you might get help in time to save you or your partners life if need arises.

While hunting in a Widerness area some many miles in on horseback, my friend severed his femoral artery had I not had those items he would definately be a dead man now. The tape covered the wound, aided with a tournegent, DO NOT FORGET TO LOOSEN EVERY FIFTEEN MINUTES, the Cell Phone inabled me to talk directly to Flight For Life out of Colorado Springs and the GPS let me give him the excact UTM Corordinates and he flew straight as an arrow to us.

GPS has saved me many times, from being lost as a duck, and took me straight to the tents when blizzards presented whiteout conditions in the Rockies. The Duck Tape was used to tape over the wounds of my partner, it was a trick taught to me by a medic in Viet Nam. It will help tremendouly to slow the loss of blood from gunshots or severe cuts.

In realty wounds from hunting rifles old or new will be deadly almost immeadiately, the duck tape works well with small caliber none expansive bullet wounds however.

I never leave camp without them nor does anyone I hunt with.

Some packs of kool aid, or Gatorade. You ll be drinking lots of water . It makes for a nice treat, Plus Hot gatorade will warm you up fast I pack a canteen cup & a small backpackers stove.  Its nice to take a break & sit down & have a cup of coffee or tea. Plus if you get lost & have to spend the night on the mtn it will help keep you warm. A big long garbage bag makes for a nice emergency sleeping bag.
I dont care what gun Im using as long as Im hunting
