93R17BV....any opinions???
« on: October 04, 2009, 12:31:12 PM »
Hi All,

I'm interested in a M17BV, a 17HMR rifle to replace my Ruger 77/17 that has more wrong with it than right.

Any opinions???

I've got one with the "cheap" plastic stock and the heavy barrel. It is a "bargain" that shoots like a target rifle. I have even gotten used to the "Accu-trigger", which I didn't like at first. Buy it, you'll like it :)

i got a heavy barrel blued in a thumbhole stock. if i have a good day dime size 5 shot groups at 100 yds. a bad day nickel size at 100. a real bad day with wind quarter size at 100. mine was an ellet bros. exclusive at the time. you have shot a hmr before so you know what wind can do to that little bullet. needles to say my hmr ain't for sale. i like mine a lot. take care and good shooting!!

I bought an older one two weeks ago that was rough. I got it home, cleaned it up,and noticed a small crack in the stock. I talked to the nice lady at the factory and will be getting a new stock in the very near future. I love the way mine shoots. It was originally a package model that has a 4x32 mm scope on it that is marked Savage Stevens and made in Japan on the lower side of it. The guy gave me the scope in the deal and said it was broke. It was really one of the rings broken. I had a new set of WEAVER rings from a scope I had bought a while back and put them on. The scope is underpowered for the rifle but works fine. I kinda feel like I might just leave it with that scope because it came from the factory that way. I like my lil .17. I put a shim and new spring in the sear and it has a one pound trigger on it. I might buy a new trigger and keep the one I have set up just for target shooting. It is sweet at 100 yards. The lady at the factory said she could not sell me an ACCUTRIGGER to put on it though. I can only buy the kind that came on it.
