Spanish cannons at Ft. Lewis, WA.
« on: October 05, 2009, 02:23:29 PM »
Mike Hardwick put a question on the Company of Military Historians forum about the 24 pdr. bronze Spanish cannons.  If you can help, pls go there and read it.  Here's his slideshow, for those of you who want a peek but don't want to take time to go to the other board:

DD, I don't think there's a way to direct link to that since the only people who can go in to the forum direct are members who sign in.  Others have to go to the homepage and go in as guests.  I could be wrong-I can't test it since that site knows my IP and lets me in automatically.

Here's the homepage if above doesn't work.   There's a colored guest button at bottom of page.

Here's a great slideshow with two polished-up Spanish 24's in front of HQ at Ft. Lewis (and many OD things if you venture there.)  I'm speculating they polished them once then coated them, because the marks are still sharp.  Bronze guns that are polished daily such as many of those in Navy custody will lose all their marks pretty quick.

I was stationed there on active duty and still have the DoD pass and sometimes drive onto the post. Those guns are right outside of I Corps HQ. They're polished so much there aren't any markings on there anymore. Plenty of stuff to see on the post if you only know where to look...
