SWINE FLU SHOT.
« on: October 05, 2009, 05:06:59 PM »
News just said a local poll here in Kentucky said that 48% of people polled said they would NOT take the vaccine. Any more polls nationwide??? POWDERMAN.  :o :o

Well, I don't know what to do about it.  I've been getting flu shots for many years and I think it might have kept me from getting sick, but this particular vaccine might have some issues.

My sister-in-law is a nurse and says that some people have experienced neurological problems from the shot.  I guess I'll wait and see what my health-care provider has to say about it.

As with any new medication a person should research for themselves before taking it.
With all the flu shots there is always a risk of side effects.
You have to wiegh the advantages against the disadvantages.

For me the flu is the one regular illness that will put me in bed.
I just don't have any resistance to it.
Everything else I can be at work sick as well as at home.
As long as I'm past being contagious anyway.
I've already got the seasonal flu shot, about 10 days ago.

I almost always refer to a trusted health care professional with my questions.
That's my wife, a RN of over 25 years. She's a bit smarter than most of the new docs.

OLD FART. HEH, it's hard to call you that. I'd be interested in what your wife has to say about this new swine flu vaccine. We had our regular flu shot about 3 weeks ago, no doubt in my mind it has helped us tremendously.
MAGOOCH. What kind of neurological problems has your sil heard of??? My wife has lots of allergies and has other problems so we are really leary about this new vaccine. Another question for all. Any fees involved for this vaccine??? POWDERMAN.  ??? ???

Powderman, my sil didn't go into the details, so all I know is there was something about some problems that cropped up in Mississippi.  She (my sil) was adament about her advice not to take the shot.  I will take her advice into account, but that doesn't mean I won't get the shot.  If there is a general problem with the vaccine, I think it will get some publicity real quick.

I believe my health-care provider will give the shot for free; it does with the other flu shots.

Here is an example of swine flu gone bad.
A woman, who works at The Womens Hospital here in Houston, caught the Swine Flu, was treated and recovered---HER husband got the flu, from her, they assume, refused to see a doctor---saying he would just tough it out--, was found in a coma and died.
45 years old and a family.
That was yesterday.

Mentioned it here in another post, my wife is a Medical Lab Scientist. And she and fellow workers have talked it over, and came to the conclusion that the vaccine hasn't been tested enough. Unless forced to by the lab, they will not take the shot. If you get the flu, by all means go to a doctor and get treated. Several medical web site's have stated that eating right, take some extra vitamins, and plenty of sleep will help tremendously. gypsyman

I took a lot of shots when I was in the USAF that I had no idea what they were for.  They didn't kill me, so what the hell; I'll give it one more try--maybe.

At least my provider gives the shot in a civilized manner.  In the service, they would arm some dipwad with a pneumatic gun.  This butthead would say hold still, or I'll cut ya.  Didn't matter how still you were, the bastage would move the gun and cut ya.

We talked to our family dr today about the h1n1 vaccine, he advised us NOT to take it. He said it was to new and had not been tested sufficiently and from what he has seen and read that he would not advise anybody to take it. He said staying clean, washing hands etc was the biggest factor. NOPE, we aren't getting it. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

We will NOT be getting it!  The dangers WAY out weigh the benefits!  Possible adverse reactions to the shot...autism and other nasty neurological diseases versus a round of tamaflu if I do get swine flu.  It's a no brainer to me!

I had the flu a couple of weeks ago. I was not impressed.  I have been a lot sicker.  Number Two Daughter called yesterday.  She had gone to Philadelphia for the football game.  She got sick while there and missed the game.  She was vomiting profusely and said she thought she would never get home.  Today she is feeling much better.  Number One Daughter went by today to take NT some things to make her feel better and went in wearing mask and gloves.  My wife nearly wet herself when she heard about it.

I did get my seasonal flu shot on Friday and my arm was sore until Sunday evening.  This is the worst reaction I ever had from a flu shot.

The swine flu is just another tactic by the left to generate a crisis. I am 38 and know many more people that have died or are dying from CANCER than the "swine flu". Where is all the noise about that? If all the money and research spent on a swine flu vaccine in the last 6 months had gone to cancer research, it might have made a difference.

My grandaughter had swine flu and getting the Tamaflu was impossible. We had to go to a pharmacy who made it from ingredients and it took til the next day.
Her parents were very close too putting her in the Hospital.
Flu---any flu---is a very serious bug. yes a lot of people get by just toughing it out but many more, that are never reported, simply die from it.
I had a friend, in my childhood, who died from it, I was in the hospital at the same time with it and it went into phnumonia-- I was very ill.
Some may be hype and overkill--but it is a very serious ailement that can get out of hand in a heartbeat.

I work ina busy ER in the Twin Cities. We received a shipment on Friday . As of Monday only two out 36 Dr's, nurses and Techs opted to take the mist. None of us are real hip on getting innoculated with live irradiated viruses. Yes the nasal mist is LIVE !
At the Children's hospital we are affiliated with, They had half a shift call off due to reactions to the vacc.
It is a free country (supposedly). so everyone should do what they feel is right for them.

I've been an RN only 13 years. I'm going to get the regular flu shot and not the H1N1. The H1N1 vaccine has a substantial number of ingredients made by the ChiComs. IMO, a combination of an untested rushed to market vaccine that includes ingredients made by those lovely people that sent contaminated additives for heparin ~2 years ago make for something that I'm not going to take. Also, the peak of the H1N1 season is already upon us. You really need to take a flu vaccine ~6 weeks prior to exposure to allow your immune system time to build up a resistance to the dead virii that is in the injection.

Too much stupidity too late for me to tolerate.  :-\

It really bothers me seeing school kids used as guinea pigs with this untested vaccine. Now it bothers me even more being told that ingredients to this are being made in china, and we all know how thorough they are with their safeguards and quality control. I don't like this one bit. I definitely don't trust osama, he definitely should get one, michelle too. POWDERMAN.   >:( >:(

My understanding in NY, correct me if I'm wrong, is that it is mandatory for all health care workers to get the swine flu shot or be fired. Nurses filed a lawsuit to stop this. An appeals court judge is going to decide if the rule sticks.
Now if nurses don't want to be forced to get the shot, why the heck should I? One nurse said that if they make me put this in my body, what are they going to force into me next?

Besides the big questions as to the apparent safety, there is a known ingredient that can be unbelievably harmful. To speed production and it's effects on our systems, this vaccine contains squalene. Squalene had been banned in vaccines for a long time, but the circumstances dictate its use.  It was however used in the anthrax vaccine given to Gulf War I troops and is believed to be the culprit of Gulf War Syndrome and other neurological problems being seen in ex-soldiers.
Doing a quick internet search on vaccine and squalene and you will see another reason why no one in my family will receive the vaccine.  Once you see the known affects of squalene, you will never, ever allow it in your system.

Again, who do you trust?

My wife manages a Pharmacy here. They elected not to give the h1n1(swine flu shot). It is a live virus and it was thought that the risks and exposure for lawsuits was too great! They did administer the redular flu shots whicha re not live viruses. I took the regular flu shot as I did last year with no effects or the flu.
One should make an educated decision before taking any live virus into their system.

Did ya hear about the nurses that are protesting and trying to get an injunction to stop them from having to take the swine flu shots!

The injectable Vaccinnes are dead suspended egg albumin cells that were infected. This causes the body to react and produce antibodies in response =antigen response without risk of contracting live virus.
The mist is virus infected cells that are zapped with x-rays to prevent proliferation. ? practice? you decide.
