DETROIT -- Thousands of people have lined up Tuesday for a chance at millions of stimulus dollars set aside to help Detroit's homeless and low-income residents.

The money is available to help low-income residents from becoming homeless and homeless residents to find housing.

Some people in line falsely believed they were registering for $3,000 stimulus checks from the Obama Administration.

City officials told Local 4 that Detroit was granted $15 million to help residents pay bills and their rent or find temporary housing for the homeless.

The Detroit Planning and Development Department (PDD) is taking applications Tuesday and Wednesday for the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program.

The applications deadline is Oct. 7. Applications can be picked up in advance Tuesday at neighborhood city halls.

Local 4 has learned that the city has run out of applications at several of the city hall locations.

The remaining 5,000 applications can be picked up Wednesday at the Cobo Hall in the Riverview Ballroom from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Already filled out applications can be submitted at the Cobo Hall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or sent in the mail to the Detroit Planning and Development Department at 65 Cadillac Square, Suite 1400, Detroit, MI., 48226.

To qualify, a person must have been a resident of Detroit for more than six months, must be homeless or facing eviction and must be able to maintain housing after receiving assistance.

Also, a resident must make 50 percent less than the median area income, which would be less than $24,850 for single Detroit residents and less than $35,500 for a family of four.

No mortgage assistance will be available through this program.

Once applications are reviewed, only applicants eligible for funding assistance will receive notification from a service provider.

Check out the following link. The government applies policies that paralyze business and investors. Tax revenue drops. Therefore, raise taxes to further depress business and investment. That ain't creatin' nuthin'.

To monitor the job growth you have to look in the right place. Obama (THE NEW LINCOLN) is counting GOVERNMENT JOBS, in the job growth market.
Think not? Research it. The government is growing by leaps and bounds as far as new jobs. Just look at the number of jobs created when the clunker car trade in package was running wide open. There were several thousand jobs made just to process the paper work.

It will not create any new jobs, or only part time jobs for a short time. It may create some government jobs that none of us will be able to apply for, because we are not members of acorn, we have guns, we believe in America, go to the tea parties, and the main reason we believe in GOD.

The president said that unemployment would not rise above 8%. It’s now at 9.8% and rising. The Presidents estimates for the deficit were $8 trillion originally and that has been revised to $10 trillion. Experts are saying they will need to revise this upward shortly. The president said he was going to close Gittmo and this will not happen in the timeline he quoted. The president said he was going to get us out of Iraq and experts are saying he will not do this in time to meet his commitment. The president said he was going to focus attention on Afghanistan at solving the conflict there and nothing is happening except an escalation of violence. The president said he was going to reform the health care system issues and we have nothing that appears as an eminent or an agreeable balanced solution. The president said the cash for clunkers program would save jobs and he was correct. What we did not realize was he was talking about jobs in Korea, Japan and other foreign lands.

Now, we see our hard earned tax dollars being tossed into the streets… what does this president and the government have in store for us next?

The solution to the problem is obvious.

Next election we simply vote the Democrats out and the Republicans IN. After all, it will be their turn to screw things up.

I think everyone pretty much knows what the problems, and what the government intends to do to us, and are in fact DOING IT.
Discussing it does little to solve the problem, as the problem has already been identified. The question is actually WHEN. WHEN will Americans get some courage and vote for someone besides "the two choices provided" for them thru the Republican and Democratic parties.
So the discussion should not be; WHAT ELSE ARE THEY GOING TO DO TO US? It should be WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO TO THEM (Republicans & Democrats) TO STOP THIS CONTINUAL EROSION OF OUR RIGHTS? The solution is very obvious to those paying attention. The rest will continue to discuss.

It is more proof that our government is corrupt and run by those who are motivated to lie to the American people. We have allowed politicians to toss the constitution and truth aside for their own personal political best interests.

I ask, when will the American people wake up an smell the pungent odor of corruption and lies that has been thrust down our throats? Is there no end to the deceit and pain we must endure to sustain the life blood of those that are willing to do us uncalculated levels of irreparable harm……As we, pay the price now for their catastrophic actions, it will be the generations that follow us who are likely to pay the highest price.

This administration and its accomplices in congress should represent final clear affirmation that we have been taken over by the tyrannical evil our founding fathers feared most.

Redistribution of income from one group of citizens to some other group whether citizens or not is NOT the job of government. It is way past time that the folks running government at all levels be made aware we are tired of this income redistribution frenzy they are on. We need to return to Constitutional rule and do away with the million or more laws made just to make legislators look busy. We ran out of reasons to pass new laws at least 50 years or more ago.

What we need is for all levels and all branches of government to take a new look at the Constitutions both Federal and State and get their act back in line with them and to remove from the books all those laws that are over and above the Constitutional authority given them. ALL AUTHORITY and ALL POWER rests in the people in this nation and all levels of government derive their power and authority from the consent of the governed and are limited to those powers and authorities granted them by the people in the appropriate federal and state constitutions. Unless we can return to that then we need to dissolve this union and begin anew and I can think of no finer document to serve as the basis for the new nation than the one designed and written by the founders of this once great nation.

I'm not voting for anyone.....ANYONE who has previously held office. I don't care if they wear a D, an R, or an I. I would prefer the independent, but if not available, I will vote against the incumbent.

Each government job should be counted as a negative job growth because it produces nothing and costs a lot.

I read the annual Statistical Abstract of the United States every two or three years, and one of my favorite data tables is the one that shows where job growth and decline is. In 2009 edition, three of the top 10 or 15 top growth job categories, in terms of rate and volume, are government jobs. I have never seen that before.

Nope. As long as the "Rock Star" image is there, they will vote for that person. Look at Obama's crowd during his campaign and look at the audience of, "The Beatles".
