Lawmakers Take Aim At Supreme Court Handgun Case
Posted by University of New Mexico/Talk Radio News Service on October 7, 2009
Travis Martinez, University of New Mexico – Talk Radio News Service

During a press conference Wednesday, Senators Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Tex.), Jon Tester (D-Mont.) and Rep. Mike Ross (D-Ark.) urged fellow lawmakers to file a brief that would inform the Supreme Court of Congressional opinion regarding McDonald v. City of Chicago, a key second amendment case.

“My colleagues and I are authoring this … brief so that the Supreme Court knows members of Congress will, once again, show Congressional intent that gun rights and the right of self-defense are individual rights guaranteed by the Constitution,” said Hutchison.

The petitioners in McDonald v. City of Chicago are attempting to overturn a ban on handguns in Chicago, Illinois.

Dang, I hate to see Kay step down as a Senator and run for governor, I think she could do a good job as governor but can do far more for us in the Senate.  She had always been pro-gun and backed the private rights for self protection and firearm ownership.

She may be paving the way for a run at the White House.

Ya know it sure is funny how the Libs are all anti gun then all of a sudden one gets mugged and that one jumps on the gun loving gun toting side. I can't remember his name right now but I do know this happens and has happened. If they are gonna outlaw guns they also have to outlaw Knifes, air planes, steps, cars, anything that could be thought up to hurt someone. Rope that's a biggy, you know how many people you can hang a day with one piece of rope a gun shell you have to take the time to reload it not rope you can just keep on a hanging. It is absolutely ludicrous to think that people have the right to vote or have any say in my personal protection of my family or myself. Who gives them the right to vote on a issue that has to do with me protecting my family NOBODY HAS THE RIGHT TO SAY WHAT I CAN AND CAN'T USE IN THE DEFENSE OF ME OR MY FAMILY EVEN A STRANGER WHO IS BEING BEATEN OR RAPED OR MUGGED OR ANY TYPE OF ACTIVITY WHICH EXTENDS PAST THE NOSE A ANOTHER PERSON. Your freedom ends were my nose begins, and don't forget it Mr, or Mrs, congressperson. Ya know I had to be politically correct as not to offend any one. He I go again, that is one of the biggest problems in this country today is everyone is so dam afraid to hurt someones feelings or offend anyone. WELL IT IS TIME TO START OFFENDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think to much of Kay myself. While she is on the right side of the gun issue, she is on the wrong side of most everything else.
The illegal aliens issue is a big one. She was for them getting citizenship in the Immigration bill that was defeated a while back.

Yes beerbelly, and she and the other Texas Senator ALSO VOTED "FOR" THE BAILOUTS. She is a sold out, you know what, and even though I have much issue with Rick Perry (present Governor) I hope he beats hell out of her in the Gubernatorial election and puts her permanently out of the political business of selling us out.
Folks like my Texas Brother Datil need to talk less, and read more. She is not my friend, NOR HIS. He would have to be a "one issue" voter to think SHE is the best Senator ANYWHERE.

I think no matter how the supreme court comes down, some mayors and govenors will just ignore it,it will be in the courts for years.
