Anyone in Kansas who can help me out.
« on: October 08, 2009, 08:13:35 AM »
I need a person who can show me the ins and outs of reloading. Yes I realize I can learn it all from the wonderful books they have available these days. But I do not want to do this by trail and error when getting started, something about my face and hands and body parts in general I really enjoy :-\. I am not some psycho who is trying to lure someone in ::), I just need some good old fashioned help. I am a reserve for the sheriff's department were I live and I do a lot of shooting. Yes when at the range for the department I use their ammo, but I want to practice more and want to do it at a reasonable cost. I also want to learn how to reload rifle rounds as well. As for rifle I mainly want to learn .243, and .308 and maybe 22 long rifle rim fire YES THAT WAS A JOKE. My main concerns of ammo are .40 S&W, 38 Special with and without +P, .243, and .308. The 40 is my duty weapon, the 38 spcl is my concealed carry and my B. U. G. back up gun. The .243, and .308 are my deer and varmint guns. I am low on guns right now due to layoff. Normally I have AR's and many others that I will aquire again soon. If you or someone you know can give me a hand I would greatly appreciate it. My dad was going to teach me years ago but he passed away before getting the chance. I am 36 and have three boys, and would like to be able to pass this skill onto them one day. I do hope I put this in the correct forum if not I am sorry.

Thank You

Brett

I am about two hours from you. I have family that lives in Wichita well Mulvane and Udall my father in law lives in Wichita off of Meridian. I do come to Wichita quite a bit to visit. My wife grew up their and since I took her to small rural living she hates Wichita, she thought she would hate it anywhere but in Wichita now she hates to even visit. But we still come out at least once every couple months some times more. I am in Neodesha it's around Independence, Parsons, Coffeyville, Fredonia, any of that sound familiar.

There are good videos on learning to reload and likely even on the internet for free I suspect. Get a couple of good loading manuals Lyman and another at least. Read the "how to" sections a few times, go slow and be real careful. Ask questions on the reloading forum here and you'll do fine. I agree it would be nice and helpful to have a tutor but I never did and learned on my own with a lot less resources than are readily available these days. It's really just a matter of common sense and paying attention to details.

BN hope you find someone to help you. If you do or do not you will need to get a few reloading manuals. The lyman or others will go thru it step by step and you will find it is rather simple as long as you follow the instruction on the die setup and never vary from the load data cocerning powder and bullets.

I know how you feel just starting nothing like having a knowledgeable hand looking over your shoulder for nothing other than reassurance that you or not doing wrong. It can save you alot of money but with the Obama Administration prices have soared on componants. The real deal is that you can load for your gun and ring out accuracy as much as possible.

I wish you the best and many years of the pleasure you will have reloading.
