After six years of point accumulation I finally drew my first kill tag here in WI . I started baiting at the end of June and had my cameras set by August first. The first day of the season, forty-five minutes into my sit, a medium bear came in and presented me with a 30 yard shot. I let that bear and another smaller bear, that came in right before dark, go. I knew there were some big bears in the area (I have lots of pictures!) and I wanted to give an honest effort at pursuing one of the big boys. I spent nearly sixty hours in the tree stand during the next two weeks, while trying to balance work and family also. I decided then that a good bear is better than no bear and five years is a long time in between tags. The next bear I saw was the same one I had seen the first day. This time, at fifteen yards, I let the hammer drop on my smoke pole and found her with a hole in the heart, thirty-five yards away. She went 235 lbs. and has thick, gorgeus, jet black fur. Perfect for a rug. After waiting so long and putting in so many days running bait, I could not be happier with my bear.

The bear was taken on my brother-in-law's farm and my brother helped run bait on the off days I could not.
If you notice my sister's camera needs to be updated, check the date!
