Gentlemen,
Per Indiana DNR regs, rifle case length can't exceed 1.625". 454 Casull case length is 1.383" and 460 S&W is 1.800" Can a 45 LC Handi rifle be "short-chambered" to have a chamber length of 1.625" using a 460 S&W reamer? If so, what can one expect to get for velocities with a standard 250gr jacketed bullet? Is there really any advantage to this 454 LONG/460 SHORT (could this be a 460 S&W Special?) cartridge over the 454 Casull? 460 S&W dies could be used, right? Any issues with shortening the 460 S&W brass or the twist rate of the parent barrel?
Thanks, Dinny
