F-150 transfer low range question

Hey Fella's! Transfer case in my Ford F-150 won't go into low range, Goes right into high range no problem, an can get it into neutral okay, then it won't budge to go into low range. Any of you have an idea a whats goin on? Thanks for replys! scout4<><

As I recall going into low range requires you to PUSH DOWN on the shifter while pushing it over and back. Are you making sure it first is pushed down or is that what you cannot get it to do?

Yes you are right, it has to push down. I get the shift lever that far and while still holding it down try pullin back into low range, but it won't move, like as if its locked out of low range. Thanks! scout4<><

if on an auto tranny it has to be in neutral to go to low range.

Yup forgot that one but you're right Ford's do need to be in neutral to go into 4low.

Do the gears grind when you try to shift into low range?  Have you tried it with the engine off?

Yes Sir, tried it engine running an engine off. No gears grinding. Won't drop back into low range, like as if its locked or blocked out from goin into gear. Thanks scout4<><

I find it's much easier to shift into low range if the

vehicle is in neutral

the brakes are off

and the  vehicle is sitting level after coasting to a halt with NO torque on any driveline components
