Red Dot Scope on a bow
« on: October 11, 2009, 12:31:08 PM »
I talked to a buddy of mine who swears by his red dot scope that he using on his bow.  I was curious if anyone here has this setup and what you think.  Any pros and cons would be helpful.  I have a red dot not being used at the moment and am considering playing around with it on my bow.  After whitetail season of course.

I had a pollington red dot on my bow and loved it!! it was on a bow that shot a hunting arrow around  285 fps. I would set the scope up for 25 yds and it would point blank a 4"circle out to 34-35 yds..it truly was a great hunting set up..that being said, I got rid of it because the anchor point when using the red dot was different than the anchor I had for my target bow. at the time my whole life revolved around 3-D and spot shooting and I felt that changing anchor points might be detrimental to my scores..If I had a red dot today it would be on my bow in a second- Kevin

Sometimes during low-light shooting, it is easy to lose the target behind the dot. Make sure the dimmest setting is dim enough.

Jeff and Gunslinger,
Do you prefer the scope over normal fixed sights?
Who manufactures the hardware to mount the red dot on a bow?

This is the best mount I have seen but it's pricey.
