Took my Baikal MH18 in .222 Rem to the range yesterday, needed to sight it in after junking the Tasco varible I had on it and it now wears the Leupold M8 compact 4x scope again. Had not loaded any ammo as I had thought of selling the rifle, briefly, but had an almost full box of Sako factory 55 grain SP ammo. I had used the collimeter on the scope when fitting it so it was close. Took the reading from the Tasco then swopped the scopes and adjusted the Leupold to the same. 1st shot from a cold clean barrel was 1 1/2" out at 7 o'clock so fired a 2nd to check and low and behold it hit almost dead centre
fired # 3 and that was close then pulled one high right, must try to remove the creep from the trigger
, # 4 hit #3's hole to end up with a 3 shot group of 1/2".
Then got the range owner to try it and from the rest he shot a 1/2" 3 shot group which again had two almost through the same hole and his group mirrored mine with the lone hole to the left and the enlarged hole to the right but his group was 1.4" lower than mine. He didn't hold the forestock whilst I did and that caused the POI change.
Hmmm better get a few boxes of this ammo methinks
and need to check if this always drops the fitst shot form a clean barrel out of the group.
