New slug barrel with quality issue
« on: October 12, 2009, 06:38:22 AM »
I received my Tracker II barrel the other day and put it on with my scope and noticed the scope was not true to the barrel. It points a few degrees to the right. I placed a 36" straight edge in the scope rail and it shows the alignment of the rail to barrel a diff. of approx. 1/8 over the length of the barrel. Do I use it or send it back? Will this affect accuracy? It took 10-11 months to get this one.

Was this an accessory barrel from the program that was installed by H&R?    I would call them immediately and explain the issue to them...Especially if that was a gun that you wanted to use this hunting season...

Yes it was. I called them today and I am sending it back. They said they would repair the barrel, not replace it and should take 1-2 weeks.

They should pay for the shipping, if you have time they can send you a prepaid UPS shipping label if you ask, they may reimburse you too, Gardner did, dunno if Madison will tho.

Update,
I called today to find out where my barrel is and was told they are replacing it because of repair problems. Now they are on back order again. They may build another batch in 2-3 weeks. There goes my deer season with my much anticipated new gun. May be I will get it in time for next years season. :-\

Whoops!   probably should have hunted with it and used some good ole Kentucky
windage and then sent it back after the season was over.
