No but I do have some I'll be trying in a .30-06. I don't do belted magnums, well except my .257 Whby. that is.

Nope, nor do I intend to.

The 165g and 180g Trophy Bonded Tip bullets shoot nearly as flat (within a inch and a half at 300 yards and 8 inches at 500 yards but carry more energy past 120 yards for the 165g and past 25 yards for the 180g.

If I was looking for a light recoil load the 130g isn’t likely to be it either as it will generate about the same recoil as the 165g Trophy Bonded load.

I have found that when it comes to the .300 Win mag or the .300 Wby, they just don't seem to really care a whole lot for those little light weight bullets. I suppose I must have shot at least 3 dozen or so in the last 44 years. It has been my experience that some will shoot the 165 grain bullets well enough on paper but excell at shooting the 180 and 200 grain bullets the best across the board. You also get a lot of bloodshot meat using those light bullets on thin small game like deer and antelope, when the velocity is well over 2900fps and upward.

This year I used the 130 grn in 300wsm on mule deer. The impact was a little high right behind the right shoulder and stopped low in the left shoulder. There was a little more trama than normal due to bone fragments. The bullet held together very well weighing 123.1 grns when I removed it. The distance was 106 yards.

Last year I shot a mule deer with 110 grn. in 270wsm. The shot was 155 yards and was lower through the vitals. The shot was a pass through with very little trama to the deer.

Both deer dropped where they stood.

Both rifles are Kimber Classics and shoot these bullets very well. I really like the lighter bullets with the lighter rifles. Usually shoot the heavier bullets out of heavier rifles.

I would think they would have good speed at first then drop faster and drift more over time than the heavier bullet .A heavier bullet then would be better over time travelling from the rifle to the intended target .
So being happy with the165/ 180 gr. Why fix what is not broke ?
So  Coyote Hunter saying the same in different terms, and with many years of experiance - I know your "right on "

I'm not sure anything is broke or needs to be fixed. The gentleman asked if anyone has tried the 130 grn TTSX.

At 10 mph, wind drift between the 130 grn and the 180 grn differs 1" at 300 yards and 3.1" at 500 yards.

Energy between the 130 grn and the 180 differs less than 300 lbs at 300 yards and 362 lbs at 500 yards. The 130 grn TTSX has almost 1400 lbs of energy at 500 yards.

Experimenting with federal's new hyper velocity loads has been interesting and so far I have not seen any significant sacrifices between the 130 grn and 180 grn loads particularly on deer sized game.

Did not mean to offend you .
Think the heavier bullet has it merits . Should you even hit a twig or some grass and key hole , you might yet get your animal .
The smaller weight/ more speed thing, has been going on for years . If your getting good results Yogi then that is great as we are overall getting good results with the 165/180 gr. The lighter bullets at times for me have been dissapointments with lost game or qickly defected bullets . The animals got away.

No offense taken. I shoot the trophy bonded 165 grn as well. Just having fun with the light bullets in the light rifles. I have not taken any shots over 155 yards. We'll see what happens at 300 yards in real situation.
