I noticed one of the nickel cases I reloaded had the plating peel off after firing. There were no signs of excessive charging, nor were any other cases affected. Does this sort of thing happen with nickel cases? Is it due to repeated stretching & resizing?

I wish I could buy some cartridges for a nickel anymore.
I've seen folks report such peeling of the plating so I'm sure it happens but in all the thousands and thousands of nickel plated cases I've used some until I wore the plating almost completely off I've never yet seen one peel like that so I have to conclude it isn't all that comon.

I've had it happen a few times with pistol cases , mostly its when I over bell the case mouth and give it a roll crimp , tends to crack and flake at the mouth . as for rifle brass I have not had it happen yet .

I've got some older Remington cses that have flaked off some but it hasn't hurt the cases. I'm still loading and shooting them. None of my Starline cases have flaked ...yet.

I have flat wore out N cases splits and just wore off the N have never had one flake off, i'm sure it's not plated right from the get go.

You know, I never thought of that. If the case was dirty or oily before it was plated that would certainly cause a problem. Hopefully it's an isolated incident, thanks for all the answers guys.
