32 H&R Mag. loads w/ heavy bullets

Anyone use or know anyone that uses a 32 H&R Mag.  in a 10" contender with heavy bullets starting with 150 gn. up to 200 gn cast ??
I'm looking for loading data

I've got a buddy that loaded some 125's, and 150's (.308 diameter) just for fun.  I'm not sure what powder he used, but I think he uses a very small charge of Unique.  I'm sure that Red Dot would work with 2.5 - 3 grains.

Be very careful with fast burning powders and jacket bullets.  I'm pretty sure that you can safely use cast  bullets with small charges of Red Dot in almost anything except the very small diameter bullets like the 22's.  I shoot a 7.62x39 with 4 grains of Red Dot and a 180 grain cast bullet.  I don't even use a gas check, just tumble lube them and run them through a sizer.  Shoots fantastic!

Be sure to actually size the bullets down to .308's to keep the pressures down.

I used to shoot IHMSA big bore standing with a 32 H&R TC barrel. RCBS 165 SIL for C-P-T and a 220 gr Lyman (forget the number - it's for the 30-40 Krag rifle) for rams. Accurate #1680 powder, compressed load. Pistol primers. No pressure problems, and it will knock down the targets.

Since my last response, my Old Man and I loaded some 32 mag's with the RCBS 30-180 lead bullets and about 2 grains of Bullseye.  Seated the bullet all the way down to the last grease groove.  No gascheck.  Shoots great!  Very accurate too!

Thanks All for the info, NOBLADE, I checked the throat and it miked .3125 + - , but it is short, everything SAECO & RCBS 165's required deep seating and NO WAY will a RCBS 165 Sil mold throw .312 + So this will probably go to the classifieds.

It doesn't need to be .312. As long as the bore riding section engraves lightly it'll work fine. IIRC I had to make a .300" die to size the bore ride nose down a bit so they would chamber easily. After that they shot great. Be careful with the Bullseye powder though, 2 gr. and a deep seated 180 could provide quite a pressure spike. That's why I used fast rifle powder - I couldn't get any decent speed with pistol powders.

The best practice load and my absolute favorite squirrel load in:

1-22 Hornet
2-221 Fireball
3-222 Rem
4-223 Rem

This load will shoot all day in one hole from any of the above. I have chrono'd it many times. My goal was to duplicate the 22 rimfire in velocity, which this is about as close as you can get. 

This load is 4.5 grains of Red Dot powder with the 55 grain FMJ, (read cheapest I can find). With this load, I killed 22 big ole fox squirrels with one shot each, at various ranges, tree top to less. This load does not leave you with a 2 piece squirrel to skin out like some of the other bullets.

This load kills instantly even a body shot. That one year that I killed the 22 Fox Squirrels, I had to do something. They and the crows were eating us out of house and home. We have pear and fig trees, and also pecan trees. Sure good eating, a squirrel fattened up on good fruit and pecans.

I've used this load about 15 years, now. Also great armadillo load. Shoot him any way, he is ripped.
