I have been working on this project for a few weeks and it has turned out quite well. My objective was to be able to mount a Williams FP sight to any of my Contender barrels by attaching to the Weaver scope rail. I could not find anything commercially available so I manufactured my own by carefully filing down a Millet scope ring base until it was about 1/8" thick. The base was then drilled and tapped to fit the hole pattern on the Williams FP sight base. The sight I used was the Williams FP-TC but that is not critical.

I use a Lyman 93A front sight mounted to a Champion's Choice AA-812 aluminum barrel band.

This is my first attempt at posting pictures so I hope this part works.

The sight mounted on the Contender carbine and two closeups of the sight and adapter itself:

Very nice!  I may unashamedly steal your idea for one of my barrels (maybe the 16 1/4" .35 remington).

Please feel free to use the idea.  The only thing I would change, and have changed for my .17HMR barrel is to use the Lipski front sight barrel band as it allows different height bases to be used for the front sight.  Being able to adjust both front and rear elevations is a plus.  The standard .812" bands fit perfectly and allow the use of most of the globe front sights.  I use both the Lyman 93A and an Anschuz globe interchangeably.
