was in filipstad today and took 31 photos if anyone is interested
but they are to large to post here
this is just a few small pictures
if anyone want them please send me an email and tell me how large mails you can recieve
sorry no muzzleface photos by obvious reasons  ;D

I wonder why the back of the gun is rusted differantly than the front ? Differant composition ?

if you send me the money for the airfreight fee for 84 000 lbs of cannons I will take the discussion with the church  + 4000 lbs wood ( minimum ) for the boxes  ;D

its the same cannons

I would guess they are minimum 4,5 foot in diameter

airfreight fee is approximately $7 per lbs

After casting, Dahlgren's 15-inch cannons only had the metal worked from the muzzle to the area behind the trunnions, the rear of the gun was left in a rough state.

It is a shame that these two guns are not being conserved with more vigor; there may be more, but as far as I know these two guns in Sweden, and one other belonging to a Hong Kong museum are the only three extant.

A can of black enamel paint can't hurt, can't cost too much and can't be too hard to find.  There must be a maintenance man for the grounds who could spend an hour or two painting them.

Thank you, Dan! I couldn't figure out how that song could possibly sound familiar to me. When you gave me the Swedish title, I googled it, and learned that an American jazz tenor saxaphonist named Stan Getz, had kind of "borrowed" the tune, and retitled it "Dear Old Stockholm," that's the tune that I knew. The song must have chord changes that jazz players really like to improvise upon, because a lot of great jazz players have covered the song, including Miles Davis, and John Coltrane. Whew! For a while there, I thought I was having some kind of paranormal experience. :o
