No social security COLA increase
« on: October 15, 2009, 04:32:08 PM »
Obama's government says that there is no inflation, that prices have actually declined, but you and I know different. Therefore, there will be no cost of living adjustment for SS recipients.
Obama is going to give retired folks a check for $250 bucks. WOW, that works out to $5 bucks a week.
Yup, thats gonna fill my tank, alright. I wonder if the $5 bucks will pay for my MANDATORY health insurance. This stupidity really .......'s me off.
I've lost all confidence in Obama's government. Are all the Republicans sleeping? They have no creditability. Or am I Crazy?

I'll bet Congress gets a raise and likely it will be larger than my retirement check amounts to in total.

I am 2 years from GETTING Social Security, and I seriously doubt I will ever see a check. My wife has been getting her very small check for 2 years. That Obama has SPENT THE MONEY on car bailouts, and helping everyone buy NEW cars that before, couldn't afford a new car seems fairly "par for the course". The fact that unemployment is most likely approaching 20%, rather than the White House advertised 9.8% did not slow the car buyers down one bit. This should tell EVERYONE where Americans minds really are.
Hermit you say you have: "Lost all confidence in Obama's government". Are you saying that you actually HAD CONFIDENCE in this moron, and his "gang"?

And you ask: "Are all the Republicans sleeping?" No, their not sleeping. Next year, when it is time for America to once again vote for, "the lessor of two scoundrels", they (the Republicans) will be there with bells on, for America to give them "their turn" at running us as a nation into the ground. They will ONCE AGAIN furnish us with AN ALTERNATIVE SCOUNDREL, to vote for out of fear, and Americans like sheep to the slaughter, will FEARFULLY VOTE FOR THE LESSOR SCOUNDREL. AND WEAKLY JUSTIFY IT! To themselves. :(
And ya know what? That majority that CLAIMS to be "conservative" but really has know idea what a conservative really is, will JUSTIFY THEIR COLLECTIVE VOTE, for "the lessor of two scoundrels" by telling us "true conservatives" our guy never had a chance. AND! Their right! Because they will have elected, or not elected, a sold out sob, whom cares not a wit, at what his voter base wants, and thru his voting record has proved it, time after time, after time. But they won't care, OR EVEN KNOW. And we will continue to slide deeper into a socialist, servitude state, complaining and voting ourselves into it all the while.

If you didn't vote McCain/Palin then what's the problem?  When folks won't vote for Republicans that can win then they get what they deserve.

Dee, that is just beautiful.

Americans need to wake up to the fact that the Democrat party and the Republican party are as alike as two stinking poop sandwiches on moldy rye bread.  The RNC panjandrums who run the Republican party do not care if you live or die so long as they can line their pockets with money from the Chinese communists and the lobbyists:  They are  just like their counterpaerts in the DNC.

Seems many voters in America today miss the connection between  who they vote for and the laws and spending those they voted in pass .
Really a shame as it seems the out number the ones that check out the ones running .
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

Not trying to rain on everyone's sympathy parade, but Social Security never gets a raise.  They get a Cost Of Living Adjustment, a COLA.  The Cost of Living as figured by Social Security is in negative numbers for 2009. This is largely due to the declining cost of oil.  Gasoline and heating oil are costing less than 50% of their cost last year, thus driving the CLOA down.  Granted other items have increased in price, but not significantly enough to affect the COLA.   If anyone has a complaint, it should be on how the COLA is figured, not whether or not you get one.  You might consider thanking the gentlemen who established the COLA for putting in a clause that the COLA would never be used to reduce Social Security (remember, 2009 is in negative numbers).

Before anyone flames me; yes I am not on Social Security, but my pension has a COLA.  It is figured as the Social Security COLA less 1% and that is the best I ever get.

Schutzen is correct. The cost cost of living has declined over 2% in '09. Of course the cost of certain things not taken in to account in the figuering of the cost of living as it applies to SS has increased enough to probably more than off set that decline. If the additional $250 should be paid to SS recipients I'll just apply it to the increased property tax the State of Texas nailed me with this year.  :o The article I read stated that the money for the $250 payment would not be from SS funds. Instead the government will borrow the money to fund the payment. Personally I wish they would just forget it. The country is so far in debt now we will probably never be able to dig our way out.

The premium for Medicare Part B will also remain the same for next year. If you participate in the Medicare Drug Plan you will see an increase in your cost for the coverage.

Beating up on a war hero from behind a key board isn't very honorable.  But then I find honor & manhood to be pretty rare these days.

Swampy there were a lot of men that fought in Vietnam honorably, and Iraq, and Iran. That does not mean to say they were all good men. If you had enough sense, you would use your keyboard and research the voting record of John McCain. He has sold us all out, including YOU. Your just not smart enough to know it.
Your so moronic that you, a year later STILL THINK that Paul, stole votes from your traitor in the Senate, John McCain. Your too imbecilic to realize that by the time McCain and Obama squared off, Paul was completely out of the picture.
You find no honor, or manhood these days, because your just too damn busy running your pie hole, instead of paying attention, and too damn stupid to recognize it when you see it. For the life of me, I cannot understand why someone as dysfunctional as you can even turn on a computer. But here you are day after day making dumb ass remarks, with people making fun of you, and you never catch on, even when they point them out to you.
Now! I am going to try and retrieve my patients, and thank God that you are neither related to me, nor are my neighbor. Both are truly a blessing.

I'm not trying to pick a fight with you zacharoo, we agree I think on much. I just can't see where voting the lessor of two scoundrels, is an improvement. Especially when the scoundrel you voted for CANCELED his campaign and rushed to D.C. to HELP AND TAKE PARTIAL CREDIT, for the first bailout.
McCain WAS AND IS, against freedom of speech (McCain-Feingold Act), he has voted OVER 70% OF THE TIME AGAINST the 2nd Amendment, is AGAINST CLOSING THE BORDERS, FOR AMENSTY FOR ILLEGALS, and on, and on, and on.

How is that better?

Next election when all the alleged conservatives VOTE BACK IN THE REPUBLICAN FAKE CONSERVATIVES, (and they will), the damage the Obama gang has done, WILL NEVER BE UNDONE.

It seems like everything I hear out of Washington is wrong or debatable. When I was young, as in Roosevelt,Truman, Eisenhauer, etc., you could trust the government and believe what they told you or printed. Treasury figures were accurate. The budject was balanced. Debt was frowned upon. Now, everybody(congress) has a hidden agenda. I do realize that the COLA is based on a weird set of analysis. Everything is skewed.
I almost think maybe term limits may be the answer. Or go to a 3rd party system. This one isn't working.

hillbill, my party fielded a good candidate last time. The problem was none of you guys voted for him. Ya'll conservatives  ??? voted the lessor of two scoundrels instead.
The Libertarian Party had a PRO CONSTITUTION, PRO BILL OF RIGHTS candidate, and the Constitution Party had a PRO CONSTITUTION and PRO BILL OF RIGHTS candidate.
The Democrats, and the alleged "conservative" Republicans both voted for candidates in their own parties that were ANTI CONSTITUTION, AND ANTI BILL OF RIGHTS, and had the voting records, and credentials to prove it.
It isn't by the way arguing. It is a discussion of provable facts.

No harm Dee I take no effence. I hear it every holiday from my in-laws . And i still love them . Politics is what makes a free nation. Every one needs to let off a little steam as long as it hurts no one. America makes it easy to say what you want and not be shot for it. Free speach is a blessing we have. We need to get together with all our different voices and try to make things better. If a person doesn't say what he feals how will everyone know if they are the ONLY ONE THINKING AT ALL!!!
