Old model contender

Hello , just found out from
TCA that my 1972 contender
doesn't accept newer barrels
They have to machine the frame
to accept the barrels and do a conversion
and also after this conversion the older
barrels can have troubles so I have to
have the solid lug on the barrel converted
over to a split lug---FYI     :-X

  You say it wont accept newer barrels. How new re you refering to. I myself have a 1973 version. I have only tried 2 barrels and both fit perfect. Guess I need to study up on the gun versions more.

I wouldn't worry alot about it.  This comes up once in a while, and it is wrong.  Sometimes the locking bolt needs to be fit, or replaced, but the only barrels that can't fit between frames are the TC muzzleloader barrels that have to be used on a G2 frame, and a couple of aftermarket barrels made for the G2 frame.  I have a mix of frames from very early to G2 and my barrels swap freely.

The Armour Alloy frames were not made in the 1970s so no.  Simply changing the one-piece barrel lug to the split variety will usually fix the non-interchangeable barrel problem.  The unmodified AA barrels are not usable on non-AA frames, but most others are.  The machining mentioned may refer to converting the frame to the Easy-Open design.
