C'mon, that would never happen in America!
« on: October 16, 2009, 03:15:41 PM »
What would you say if I gave you 11 reasons why the elections in 2010 will be the most important in the history of the United States ?

1. What if I had told you in October 2008, before the last presidential election, that before Barack Obama's first 100 days in office, the federal government would be in control of both the mortgage and the banking industries? That 19 of America 's largest banks would be forced to undergo stress tests by the federal government which would determine if they were insufficiently capitalized, so they must be supervised by the government?

Would you have said, "C'mon, that will never happen in America ."

2. What if I had told you that within Barack Obama's first 100 days in office the federal government would be the largest shareholder in the US Big-Three automakers:  GM, and Chrysler? That the government would kick out the CEO's of these companies and appoint hand-picked executives with zero experience in the auto industry and that executive compensation would be determined, not by a Board of Directors, but by the government?

Would you have said, "C'mon, that will never happen in America !"

3. What if I had told you that Barack Obama would appoint 32 Czars, without congressional approval,   accountable only to him, not to the voters, who would have control over a wide range of US policy decisions. That there would be a Stimulus Accountability Czar, an Urban Czar, a Compensation Czar, an Iran Czar, an Auto Industry Czar, a Cyber Security Czar, an Energy Czar, a Bank Bailout Czar, and more than a dozen other government bureaucrats with unchecked regulatory powers over US domestic and foreign policy.

Would you have said, "C'mon, that will never happen in America !"

4. What if I had told you that the federal deficit would be $915 billion in the first six months of the Obama presidency - with a projected annual deficit of $1.75 trillion - triple the $454.8 billion in 2008, for which the previous administration was highly criticized by Obama and his fellow Democrats. That congress would pass Obama's $3.53 trillion federal budget for fiscal 2010... That the projected deficit over the next ten years would be greater than $10 trillion.

Would you have said, "C'mon, that will never happen in America !"

5. What if I had told you that the Obama Justice Department would order FBI agents to read Miranda rights to high-value detainees captured on the battlefield and held at US military detention facilities in Afghanistan . That Obama would order the closing of the Guantanamo detention facility with no plan for the disposition of the 200-plus individuals held there. That several of the suspected terrorists at Guantanamo would be sent to live in  freedom in Bermuda at the expense of the US government. That our returning US veterans would be labeled terrorist s and put on a watch list.

Would you have said, "C'mon, that will never happen in America !"

6. What if I had told you that the federal government would seek powers to seize key companies whose failures could jeopardize the financial system. That a new regulatory agency would be proposed by Obama to control loans, credit cards, mortgage-backed securities, and other financial products offered to the public.

Would you have said, "C'mon, that will never happen in America !!"

7. What if I had told you that Obama would travel to the Middle East, bow before the Saudi king, and repeatedly apologize for America 's past actions. That he would travel to Latin America where he would warmly greet Venezuela 's strongman Hugo Chavez and sit passively in the audience while Nicaraguan Marxist thug Daniel Ortega charged America with terrorist aggression in Central America .
Would you have said, "C'mon, that will never happen in America !!"

8. Okay, now what if I were to tell you that Obama wants to dismantle conservative talk radio through the imposition of a new "Fairness Doctrine." That he wants to curtail the First Amendment rights of those who may disagree with his policies via internet blogs, cable news networks, or advocacy ads. That most major network television and most newspapers will only sing his phrases like state-run media in communist countries?

Would you say, "C'mon, that will never happen in America !!!"

9. What if I were to tell you that the Obama Justice Department is doing everything it can to limit your Second Amendment rights to keep and bear arms. That the federal government wants to reinstate the so-called assault weapons ban which would prohibit the sale of any type of firearm that doesn't require the shooter to pull the trigger every time a round is fired. That Obama's Attorney General wants to eliminate the sale of virtually all handguns and ammunition, which most citizens choose for self-defense.

Would you say, "C'mon, that will never happen in America !!!"

10. What if I were to tell you that the Obama plan is to eliminate states rights guaranteed by the Tenth Amendment and give the federal government sweeping new powers over policies currently under the province of local and state governments and voted on by the people.  That Obama plans to control the schools, energy production, the environment, health care, and the wealth of every US citizen.
Would you say, "C'mon, that will never happen in America !"

11. What if I were to tell you that the president, the courts, and the federal government have ignored the US Constitution and have seized powers which the founders of our country fought to restrict. That our last presidential election may have been our last truly free election for some time to come.

I know, I know what you will say. "That will never happen in America !"

If we don't do everything in our power to stop this madness in 2010...

May God have mercy on our worthless souls

What if I told you that voting for the lessor of two scoundres is what got us here in the first place? What if I told you, that all or most of you will vote for the lessor of two scoundrels "AGAIN"? What if I told you that it will never change, because Americans don 't have the courage to step out of the Democratic and Republican Parties, and vote for HONEST "INDIVIDUALS"?
THE DEMOCRATS AREN'T LISTENING TO US, AND NEITHER ARE THE REPUBICANS.

As with most of what Dee says I agree.
The only problem is that even though a very large percentage of the American people are fed up with the two main party's and are tired of government as it is now a true third party still really doesn't stand a chance to win at this time.
There is not enough money behind them and they don't have anyone who has served in congress that can step up and take charge.
I do believe that 2010 will be a great opportunity for them to gain a foot hold and start the long road towards what we all want and that is to regain control of OUR government.
I am afraid that right now a vote for them would only help the ones who are in there now to retain control.
I hope I am wrong, I pray I am wrong, and I do plan to vote for a new beginning this time because if we don't start now they will never have a chance.
The big question is will YOU vote this time for a new beginning?
It all has to start somewhere and it might as well be here and now!!!

Dee, I am with you 100%, but we have yet to see an independent that has a chance in hell of winning the White House.  That’s the reason most folks choose the lesser of two evils.

I think a lot of folks rant and rave about a third party candidate, but they will not dig deep and make a contribution to aid in their election.  The problem with most third party candidates, they wait too late to throw their hat in the ring, they are not nationally known and they don’t have the funds necessary for the stay.

I am ready for a “CHANGE,” but who do I support?

SM Bob

you pretty well summed it up and i hope you post that everywhere you can. The people are seeing more and more as each day goes by.  a very good personal friend, 84 years old, said he wanted Obama to win the election bad, real bad. He crowed every day how "CHANGE IS COMING!" I had a long talk to him this morning and he was beside himself, just could not believe what Obama has done. Now this old man is a die hard Democrat but a moderate one. He says that he is ashamed of Obama that he lied to him and all Americans. He said that he never thought that the kind of change that Obama has done and is trying to do is not what he thought would happen.

So it seems that there are some at least that are shocked at what they voted in. Change is coming in 2010 alright and it will be the signal to obama that he is gonna be a one term president. it is a shame in a way, as i have said before he could have made more history and gone down as one of the greatest presidents ever. he has proven that he was not ready and that he is not worthy to lead the greatest nation on the earth.

had he had the balls to govern with the idea to help the people and this nation in these perilous times. not by tearing down this nation but by building it back up giving work to the common man by rebuilding the infrastructure and by looking into the medical system and correcting all the faults one by one and eliminating fraud. had he spoken proudly of this nation and praised the people in it and shown us all that he was willing to do what ever it took to get us on our feet. had he not praised such evil as chavez and apologized to other unfriendly nations about the course of the U.S. in the past. we as a people would have lined up and gone with him. BUT HE DID NOT.

I to voted for the lesser, and have been because there has yet to be a true rally in the hearts of americans to get behind a God fearing individual who'll set this nation aright.  I hope it isn't to late.
Enjoy your rights to keep and bear arms.

Everyone agrees that voting the lessor of two scoundrels is not getting us anywhere but, deeper into the mire of socialism.
The thing is guys, you say these 3rd party candidates just don't have enough support to win. Well, where do you think their going to get that support?
No, the third parties don't have the money to advertise their cause, that the Democrats do, and the Republicans do. Why is that? It's because UNTIL THEY GARNER ENOUGH VOTES TO REACH A CERTAIN PERCENTAGE, they don't get the FEDERAL FUNDING, the other two parties get.
Gentlemen, you say you want honest candidates but, you are in fact YOUR OWN WORST ENEMY.

THEY WILL NOT CHANGE, UNTIL YOU CHANGE, AND I AM NOT HOPEFULL FOR EITHER THEM OR YOU GUYS. AS I HAVE SAID. WE WILL CONTINUE TO SLIP INTO SOCIALISM COMPLAINING ALL THE WAY, WITH THE CURE SO OBVIOUS, OUR GRAND CHILDREN AND GREAT GRAND CHILDREN, WILL CALL US IDIOTS. IF THE LIGHT WILL NOT COME ON IN THE ROOM. CHANGE THE BULB!

Dee and I and others HAVE stepped up to the plate! Question is..........When will you and others that want the same freedoms, do the same, instead of voting for one of the criminals the Republican and Democrats offer as a choice? I guess we all see the light at different times.  You say that no one else stands a chance against the two parties at this time! Just when do you think that time will be? Perhaps when you work for the party and receive the same bowl of swill as everyone else, except the ruling Junta.

Like Dee said! Ron Paul is a true conservative, and happens to be a registered Republican, but for some strange reason, most voters went with the candidate the Media instructed them to vote for. And they chose to run a stinking old, gun grabbing, liberal Republican (John McCain) to run against the Foreigner that now resides in the BIG house.

OK! Lets just wait until some third party candidate has enough money to run against the ruling Criminals!
"Lets see" I think that is about the same time HELL freezes over >:(

Obama is the same person he was before the election as he is after getting elected.  He had the same socialist agenda before he got elected as he has now. These people that are now saying oops I made a mistake at the voting booth, are really letting their stupidity shine. It’s a persons duty to find out what and who they are voting for before election day.
Then we have the morons that say on election day, “ I really don’t know who I’m voting for yet”.
Is it really any wonder we elect people like Obama.

I hate getting involved in these discussions, as I've never been any good at debating, but I can't help myself.
The formation of political parties--even the concept of "political parties"--has doomed this nation practically from its founding.  While political party-based voting may "streamline" the election process, there is absolutely no benefit to joining a party, neither from the standpoint of the individual citizen, nor for the good of the nation.
It's ironic how the nature of mankind requires rules/government, but mankind has never in its history been capable of quality government.  But then how should one judge a nation's government?  By it's ability to be at peace?  By it's financial prosperity?  By its military might?  By its cultural wealth?  Or (dare I say it) by the liberty afforded its people?  Then again, each person might have his own view of what "liberty" or "freedom" means.  (I personally value my "freedom" to keep and bear arms above almost all else, but that's not necessarily conducive to overall quality of my useless, miserable life.)

Please forgive my incoherent ramblings.  The bottom line is that I can't change anyone's mind, nor can you or anyone else.

I guess you didn't understand quite what I said or meant.
You also left out the final part of my post---

The big question is will YOU vote this time for a new beginning?
It all has to start somewhere and it might as well be here and now!!!

I stated when I would step up to the plate---it will be this election.
I have seen the light, I like others saw it before but did not follow it.
We all make mistakes, but as long as we learn from them and try to correct them maybe we will get back on the right path.

I have no idea when the third party will really have a chance against the others but like I said---It all has to start somewhere and it might as well be here and now!!!

Not sure what you meant about work for the party.

I have stated when I/it will start, this coming election, I am not waiting any longer and it may well be when hell freezes over, I don't know but don't hack on me for stating what I see as being one of the main reasons I felt the third party could not win.
I will do my part in trying to change that and hopefully others will to!

I did not vote for the good Dr and would not/will not because I don't believe all of his rhetoric.
I did vote for a candidate that I thought was the best choice, in the National Election.
I think, in this case, the Dr. did more harm than good,as is the usual thing that happens when a person splits---they create a split that allows another party, of certaily the worse choice, to win. It has happened in history before.

If you want to shake up the two party system then vote the incumbent out of office.  The problems in the country are related to the 30+ year congressman and senators who think more about getting re-elected than helping to solve the problems that they created in the first place.

They cut the funding for the VA hospitals then fire the general in charge when things go to s@*t.

They passed new banking laws to allow the banks to monither their own behavior.  Like the fox guarding the hen house.

If you want change then remember to vote.  It is a shame that only about 40% of Americans vote at all.

Bob is totally correct abd I hope he places his essay wherever it can be placed. In 2010 we could get a new congress that would curtail some of the Marxist ravages and by 2012 stand a chance of getting the Socialist/Marxist gang reduced to impotency. However, we cannot do it if we insist on voting for somebody who can't possibly win.
Hopefully a third party will somehow get strong or the Republicans will turn back to their roots...but if we insist on voting for a  "can't win" on election day..we may as well stay home.

Are you capable of independent thought separate and apart from swampy? What did he split? He ran, he lost, he dropped out and stayed out. Just like all the rest of the folks who ran in the primaries and lost.  What's so hard to grasp about that concept?

We will have to vote for a can't win person if they are ever to have a chance to win.
How else will they ever get that chance?

Anyone who can vote and stays home and does not vote is a fool!!!
I also beleave that person has no right to conplain about anything.
Voteing is one of the few rights they have not tried to take away from us.
Hope they don't read this or they may just try it.

All it takes is for the people to step up and back the third party.
Even if they don't win, if enough votes go their way maybe it will get the attention of the other two parties that we mean business.

I did vote the lessor of two evils because I felt the third party didn't stand a chance but I will no longer do that.
I will vote for the better candidate from now on regardless.

In minnesota a while back we were tired of hearing the same BS from the candidates for governor then jesse ventura came along. Guess what-HE GOT ELECTED. I admit it- I voted for him. His legacy still stands to this day, even though minnesota leans a bit to the left, we keep a conservative as governor. Hopefully pawlenty decides to stay. What I am trying to say is that third party candidates DO have a chance- either when the main party candidates are so bad, or the voters are so sick of the usual political retoric.

I wonder if ventura would have been elected had mark richie and his gang of election "judges" were overseeing that election?  Mark richie is the democrat AG that gave frankenturd the senate seat.

I will vote for the better candidate from now on regardless.

votng is one of the  few.......
what about the electoral college

Bob is totally correct abd I hope he places his essay wherever it can be placed...

Bob's Essay?? I don't think so. From what I've discovered, it's an e-mail that has been posted throughout the internet.

A friend sent this to me. I did not write it. I'm not that clever. I did think
it was worth sharing with everyone here. We are definitely in for a rough
ride. The 2010 election will be a chance to get some of these people out
of Congress who are ruining our country. I think the people who are up
for reelection are scared. They should be.

Bravo Bob! Thank you Sir for coming clean. ;) And I agree with you on all counts about your assessment of the 2010 election.

I DON'T think their scared at all. If they were, they would change NOW. I also don't think they have anything to be scared of.
Everyone will use the same excuse as always and vote the lessor of two scoundrels, and it will be business as usual, and they know it. They have the entire of America buffaloed into thinking you have to vote the two parties, and by golly their right. The American people ARE BUFFALOED, and they WILL vote Republican or Democrat.

Either party would need to have a very good candidate in order to get some of the voters to ever come back, if then!

I don't think I will be one of them.
I won't say never because you just don't know what the futher may hold.

GB and Dee
He caused dissention and it not only drew the party apart it created a rift that drove many to another party and even to not vote.
The Good Dr. has a history of dissention--look at it. The only place around here he has any support is in that little district of his. he cannot run for the Senate because he does not have enough support in the party or the state.
Would the republicans have won---NO---wheather or not there was no dissention.
He can only tell you what is wrong.

Of course I am capable of independent thought. That is why you and I dsagree sometimes. What was meant by that question?
