6.5 JDJ Reamer Question
« on: October 11, 2003, 10:59:45 PM »
I'm trying to rent or buy a 6.5 JDJ reamer but I don't see them listed anywhere. Is this a proprietary cartridge like the 300 Whisper and can be had under a different name, like the 300 Whisper is called a 30-221 by some reamer manufacturers.
 Thanks.......

Yes, it is proprietary to J. D. Jones, of SSK Industries.  I don't know offhand of any other 6.5 mm round based on the .225 Win, but there are some based on the .30-30 case.

:D I can tell you from personal experience that the 6.5jdj is an excellent cartridge. I have taken deer in Md,Me and a couple other states. It is also effective on ground hogs ,coyotes and prairee dogs. Wish you luck in getting a reamer so you can see what I am talking about!  jh

6.5 JDJ Reamer Question

As others have said, you won't be able to buy a 6.5 JDJ reamer as SSK has a hold on the name.  I know Van Horn makes a 6.5x225 IMP but a friend got one from him and it has a slightly longer neck than my 6.5 JDJ.  You could get some cormed cases and have a reamer ground by a die shop though.
