Horton Summit, a deer and a hog
« on: October 19, 2009, 06:52:57 AM »
Well last weekend I get a picture on my phone of Kinny kneeling behind a 150 pound hog and holding a crossbow. The crossbow is a 150 pound pull Horton Summit from a kit and it has a red dot site on it. This weekend I was at the lease to do a bunch of pre season chores and a little bow hunting. I get there at 7pm just before dark and he got there 30 minutes before I do. I head out to spill some corn out and on my way back Kinny is gutting a deer. He had hit it just behind the shoulder and the bolt had come out the other side. A nice fat doe of 90 pounds or so.  He had shot it 7 times and the forth shot was at the hog which hit too far back but was recovered anyway and the 7th shot was on the doe.  He wanted me to sight it in and it was hitting 6 inches low and 16 inches to the left. He didn't know how to change the sight so he just used Kentucky windage after he figured out where to hold from his first 5 shots.  It took me four shots to get it hitting dead on at 15 yards which is what he wanted. Well I may just get a Xbow myself but will probably go Barnett.
