Do you have a web link for that 58 cal roundball barrel? I looked all over for a 1-60" to 1-70" in 58 cal... can't find one anywhere -- just 1-48s.

Triple 7 try going to your search and look up green mountain barrel and you have to go to replacement barrel and you will see it there.

A friend of mine bought one of their drop in round ball barrels and is very happy with it.  I believe when he was shopping around for it, the best price was to special order, from I think Midsouth, rather than buying direct from Green Mountain.

Jrkrk, I have two of their drop-ins, one in .40 caliber, and one in .50 caliber.  Both are excellent buys.  I replaced an existing .50 caliber barrel on my T/C Hawken, and the new .50 is accurate as can be.  The only drawback I have is the ram rod.  It really isn't "period correct".  That, however was resolved by making a new one from a hickory dowel.

The .40 caliber was already on a new T/C Hawken stock.  It was purchased from the Log Cabin Shop in Lodi, Ohio.  The .40 is a tack driver, and uses very little powder.  It's great for plinking, or serious target work.  It groups under 1" at 50 yards.

Both barrels seem to have a small amount of "choke" near the muzzle.  The ball starts a little tight but ends up seating very easily.  I also have the same phenomena in two other rifles with G/M barrels, and I've read where this is "natural" in the way the barrels are drilled.

The best buy I've seen on them is from Track of The Wolf.  They go for about $140.00, plus shipping.  I'm getting ready to buy another one for an older, first year T/C in .45 caliber.

PS - If any of you have a Lyman GPR, Track will handle the necessary modifications so it will fit your rifle, for a slightly higher charge.
Best always and make smoke,
YMHS Dennis

:D ,jrkrk,, I don't see an IBS listed in .58??

It could be easily done though, starting with a "blank" then the added fee's for breech, sights, underlugs, rail and thimbles.

I love my .54

jrkrk: i have a drop-in 58 cal barrel from green mountain.  i put it on a tc big boar.  i couldn't get the 1-48 tc barrel to shoot any of the conicals and the round ball loads that would shoot were real light.  also those conicals with 90-100 grains of powder would loosen your fillings!  when i got the barrel i had to do two things to make it "drop in".  the wedge was loose and the rib was too long.  the rib was easy and the wedge was fixed by shortening the loop (i can't think of the proper term) that the wedge passes through.  anyway this took about half an hour and i was ready to shoot.  it handles 100 grs of 2f with a 0.015" patch real well.  2"-3" groups at 50 yds.  i bought it directly from green mountain.  it was on a sell off list.  it has a 1-66 or 70" twist.  good luck  hatchetman

I am selling a Renegade 50 Cal Green Mountain drop in barrel purchased from Track of the Wolf just a few months ago. Check classified if your interested. Not a bad price for a barrel with only 50 rounds fired through it.  32" length with round ball 1-70 twist.
