Bow Hunting Knife
« on: October 22, 2009, 09:37:20 AM »
Does anyone make a folding lock blade knife with a saw and a hide hook?

I had a three blade Browning many years ago but it isn't made any more. For bow hunting it was compact and I always had a saw in my pocket that could get me up a tree with a climber, a game dressing tool and a good blade for anything else needed. All in a package that fit comfortably at light weight in my pocket. Blade didn't lock though.

A two blade with the hide hook on the knife blade would be great, the saw blade could have a fish hook degouger on it.

All the saw blades I ever had in a folder, I had to refile the teeth to have a propper saw. An Asian pull cut tooth works best in a short saw blade. More control, safer and a little more stroke out of the same length blade. You can pull the blade all the way across and out of the limb.

The alpha won out, It is one unit with no extra parts to have to keep up with. eddie

My Alphas came in and they are what I wanted. The pouch will carry vertical or horizontal, either. Small enough to carry in my pocket, just two blades and the saw teeth are cut right. Just need to slope the gut hook point so it isn't so square. eddiegjr

Modifications: Cut a notch across the thumb button of the saw blade thumb button. On both the blade flip out sholder and the saw flip out sholder cut them to about 1/2 their height so if you carry it in your pocket ,without the sheath, the sholder won't be as likely to cause either blade to open as far, also cut notches on the saw flip out sholder stub, cut notches so it is distinguishable from the knife flip out sholder. Helps in the dark. eddie

Cabela's cutlery catalog has a couple of knives that look like they would do a good jpb for the money.
