I really like some of the 629 variants, but I absolutely refuse to buy a ported handgun.  Anyony know if they will make make you one of the Stealth Hunters or similar with an 8 3/8" barrel...unported?

Be honest with yourself.  Can you guarantee you would hit a paper plate at 250 yards...100 yards...50 yards?  Then you have no business replacing the plate with a live animal.

Since the Performance Center still mass produces it's models, I doubt if they will do a "custom" model just for you. Sounds like you just want a standard 629 with an 8 3/8s barrel with an action job or is it the looks you are after? BTW, I have a Lew Horton PC Model 629 - .44 Magnum Hunter Revolver with the compensator and love the way it shoots. Altho I never like ported guns that blow back in your face, I find the comps do not do this and are not much louder than my un-comped guns.
