Got My Rifle Back; Have ??
« on: October 26, 2009, 10:23:31 AM »
The big brown truck brought my 44 mag back today. H&R replaced the barrel. The replacement barrel is drilled & tapped for open sights, the original barrel was plain.

Would anyone here know if this would indicate that this is an older barrel? Or are they currently making any with open sights?

It may be a take off barrel from a previously ill-fitted rifle, slug the bore and see whatcha come up with(info in the FAQs), but if it's an extractor, it should be a 2007 or later Marlin made barrel, I'm pretty sure those older barrels were all ejectors, but that's not certain.

Just bought a new 44 handi and it came with open sights, and a synthetic non monte carlo stock. My dealer said this was the first he had received this season.
