« on: October 27, 2009, 08:45:48 AM »
Here is a cpl pics of a bull I took with My BC 45/70.  Had a way good time He rolled with one shot and didnt get up.  Not too bad for an over the counter tag on public ground.

Well I ended up with a 45/70 after trading a guy with a H/R 204 I had kicking around.  I needed another elk gun after my wife took claim to my 7mag.  So about a month before the hunt I worked up a load with a 300 grain hollow point that  suppriesed me with how accurate it shot.  So off the hill I went looking for elk that morning.  I found  this one  sneeking up the hill in the trees as I was sneeking down.  I had very small opening he was walking through and I probably wouldnt have seen him again.  So I cocked back the hammer and let her rip at the front sholders at about 100 yards.  I hit him a little high but the brute force of that bullet picked him up and laid him on his side and was down for the count.  He didnt even know where it came from.  I let my wife know and she saddled up the horses and rode to where I was.  By the time she got there with the horses I had him quartered.  We loaded him on the pack horse Jack and she snapped the  photo of me leading him out.  One of the hunting memories caught on camera and one I will remember for a long time.

Ya know guys, If we do our jobs, the Handi .45-70 doesn't need a second shot.....I think that's why we love it. ;D

Good job!  Good to see the BC doing something besides playing around.  It's serious medicine when it has a job to do!

Hello from Georgia,

I have a Handi 45/70, but seeing all the good results you guys are having with the Buffalo Classic, I feel the fever setting in. I will have to fight it off right now, but am sure that pretty soon I will have to give in and acquire one of them there loooong guns. Great hunting, great shooting, and great time spent with the wife. Keep us posted !!

Thanks for sharing.  I might add it looks like you got a fine hunting family there.  All the pics are great, but I especially enjoy the photo of you and the pony!  Those pics say more about the hunt than do the pics of the game.  But dont get me wrong I enjoy seeing the game too!
