Opinions on the Heritage Manufacturing Rough Rider .22's?

I'm looking at getting a .22/.22mag revolver for use on my trapline, and am wondering if anyone has any experience with the Rough Rider revolver?

I can pick one up for 180 bucks or so, or I can get a Ruger Single Six for about 360.

The Rough Rider looks kinda...cheesy...not as well manufactured as the Ruger, but the price is 1/2 that of the Ruger.

Suggestions/opinions, please?

If you get a good one, they're fine. I have two of them. I also got a bad one, really messed up. The factory tried once to fix the ailments (shaving lead, keyholing), didn't get it right, then promptly replaced it. No charges, not even shipping, although I had owned it for well over a year before I contacted them and had never registered the warranty. I kind of like them even though I'll never mistake them for one of my single sixes. $180 seems a little high. I saw a couple just a day or two ago for $130 - blued.

look on guns america you should be able to pick up a good single six for $200 Ive even seen 3 screw flat tops for around that price on there.

For the money I'd go with 'em. Around here they run about 130.00, depending on barrel length and grips. A buddy of mine has one that he carries when we go canoeing or creek fishing. It's accurate enough for small game and plinking and for the money should make a decent trapline pistol.

The reason for the higher prices is becase I live on Kodiak Island, Alaska.  Shipping is expensive up here, and the few places that have FFL's cost an arm and a leg to use their license.

I think I'm gonna go with the Rough Rider...for 180 bucks its not THAT much of a waste if it really sucks!

I've been thinking about getting a Rough Rider in the 22lr/22mag combo also. One reason the one you have seenis so expensive, (other than the excessive shipping costs), could be that it has the steel frame rather than the alloy one.
