While I am not a member of either major party and I do not think either one is acting fully in the American people's interest, to lump them together as exactly the same is ludicrous.
Just look at the situation we now face..Obamanation health care (govt run of course). Nearly all Democrats (except a very few blue dogs) are all for it..while NO Republicans will stand for it.
Yes, there is some blurring of the lines toward the center edges, but let's look at the bulk of the elected officials.
Lets look at other issues, and answer for yourself:
1) Abortion: which party is about all for it?
2) Taxes: Which party is generally the one more likely to raise taxes?
3) Gun rights: which party is more often attempting to grab our guns?
4) Hate crime: Which party is more likely to want to jail somebody..for what they are thinking?
5) Political correctness: Which party is more likely to use this idiocy to limit freedom of speech?
6) Gay marriage: Which party is more likely push for this; thereby cheapening real marriage?
7) Acorn: Which party is heart and soul "married" to this corrupt, gangster organization?
Constitutional rights:Which party at this very moment, is trying to undermine our rights in many ways?
9) The Constitution: Which party refers to the Constitution as a "living, breathing" document; (meaning it can be changed as fads and the majority dictates)?
10) God: Which party is much more avid in kicking God out of schools, football games, Christmas displays, or any public venue?
These are just a few of the many places where the major parties differ, but if you came up with the same party name for every , or nearly every question..that should provide a clue...
While the Republicans are nowhere near where Reagan was, they may not be beyond redemption..whereas it looks like the Democrats are sold out to the Socialist/Marxist control freaks, and are unable to return to the American way.
In NY's 23rd district, there is a Conservative running strong. If I were in that district I would be out campaigning for him.
In my district, at a state level, we have a Republican state senator who votes correctly on every issue I am aware of. If the Conservative party (my party) runs a candidate against her, I will still vote for Cathy, simply because she has proven herself over the last 6 years she has held the post. To vote against her BECAUSE she is a Republican would be patently stupid; especially if the Conservative party candidate stands no chance.
In that case I would be doing something so stupid that I may be putting a radical liberal in her place. ....
That would be "cutting off my nose..just to spite my face".
