Topper Deluxe Slug
« on: October 27, 2009, 03:46:43 PM »
I have a 3" 12ga Topper Deluxe Slug that is factory compensated.  Does anyone know what the twist is on that model?  Also, if you have one, what sabots have worked well in yours?

I'm also considering doing something to improve the open iron sights.  I know it's pretty thin to be drilling and tapping for optics, but I'm thinking along the lines of a peep sight set up.
Ideas?

I have one and I believe you are the only other one to mention having one . I think EVOC1 has the smoothbore version. I have taken about 5 or six deer using Federal premiums with the barnes bullet. All of these were bangflops. From 45-60 yards using the stock open sights. I haven't done any serious range work or slug testing. I shot two into 2" on a 5 gallon bucket the first day I got it the rest were shot into deer. I have only used the 2 3/4" shells thus far. The felt recoil is definitely less than my 12ga tracker.
PROUD REDNECK CONSERVATIVE

I'd much rather be remembered for being a great shot than having the most expensive gun

Thanks for the info, Markus!  I lurked here for some time and knew you had one and really liked it too!
I've had good results with the Federal Barnes as well.  I've been using the 3" variety.
The compensator definately helps with the muzzle control and felt recoil, but does not seem to be much louder than a standard 12ga.
I've always longed for the ability to put a lightweight optic on it.  But the irons are not too bad for 50 yard shots.

It is one neat little shotgun! ;D
