At the Nampa Rod & Gun Club we shoot pistol matches in the morning and then Pistol Cartridge Cowboy Rifle and Smallbore cowboy rifle in the afternoon. The wind was gusting from left to right all day at about 20mph.
I did pretty good the last time I shot Pistol cartridge but I really let the wind get to me on this one. I only got 7 chickens, 7 pigs, 4 turkeys, and 6 rams for a total of 24/40. Nothing to brag about but the high score was a 28/40 by another master shooter so I can't complain too bad.
I felt like the wind died down a little for the Smallbore Cowboy Rifle match but everyone else said I was full of crap. I did do much better with this one though. I think maybe there were longer lulls in the gusts. I got 9 chickens, 10 pigs, 8 turkeys, and 7 rams for a 34/40. Like I said, the wind seemed to die down to me but the closest score to me was a 25.
I love shooting silhouette!
